I am up for this!
You're always going to be afraid, even if you learn to hide it. Fear is like a companion. A constant companion, always there. But that's okay, because fear can bring us together. Fear can bring you home.

Sure. I like mafia.

Edit: Do we get a list of roles before the game starts?

I'd say so.

There's going to be more than one game, and from the sounds of it, this thread can be used to organise future games for those who are interested.

A list of all roles before the game starts? Excuse me, I just threw up a little.

How will mafia claim? Or is it "don't ask questions and just wait for the imbalanced clues to win the game for you" version?

They look at what roles exist and claim to be one of them.

I prefer the games where you wait for imbalanced roles to win the game for you

Then the real one counter claims instantly and they get at most one day out of it before people start looking right at them.

At least give them the opportunity to slink into the darkness and survive the game.

Yeah, Mafia has changed a lot on ONM. We stopped posting all the roles in the game in the first post ages ago, now its all open to speculation and surprise as to what roles are in the game.

Allows the Mafia to claim roles which may not be in the game and leads to some interesting variations.

Also, most games are played without clues now.

That doesn't always happen, especially in bigger games with more interesting roles. And I assumed the very first mafia game would be for beginners, so a list of all possible roles is pretty much necessary.

Talk of beginner friendly games happens then all the veterans join in and the beginners don't. I find it's better to throw beginners into the deep end when there are roles in play that not even the veterans are used to.

Also while I remember to post about it I did end up finishing the Futurama mafia I was working on last year if people are wanting a fairly straightforward non clue game.

I'd be interested in playing any mafia games on these forums.
Yes, this is a stupid name. I was 14 when I came up with it, and 6 years later I still can't think of anything better

mofais with published role lists have a very different meta which is much better suited to real-time games which happen very quickly (hi, epicmafia!) with people that don't really know each other. the place for them isn't a forum

Well, progress with Rik seems to be slow. And by that I mean progress is non existent. Partly my fault. Entirely his. Also, I really don't know enough about ONMers, let alone in any view that may be considered non-bias, to actually get a fair character representation and Rik only being a member for a year doesn't really help. So, instead, I propose...

Aren's Super Broken Mafia Where Everyone Will Probably Die

Basically, the idea is that I start building the game with one really broken role and try to create a fully balanced game by adding lots more broken roles.

Note: Balance is not guaranteed. In fact, balance is guaranteed to not exist.

So, if no one, or if only wrong people who I can ignore, objects I'll get sign ups posted tomorrow. If I remember.

If it helps, I've been a member for nearly 9 years, and I don't know anyone in this thread at all. You're both better equipped than me at making a veteran mafia game.
