GuitarHero's Music - Piano Tunes Galore

Post by GuitarHero » Sun Feb 21, 2016 12:24 am

Not sure where to put this, but decided on here.

I've been wanting to record myself playing piano for a while and I've actually gone about it now, so feel free to check it out.

Here is my channel (feel free to click on the ads ;) ) and here are the Playlists.
Facebook Page if that's your jam.
Playlists: So here's me playing Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico Einaudi, one of my favourite pianists
Nuvole Bianche
and now I Giorni
I Giorni
now Pey'j's Death from Beyond Good and Evil
Pey'j's Death
So here's the Love Theme from Mass Effect
Love Theme
Here's For River (Solo) from To the Moon
For River
and here's the Steel Samurai Ballad from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Steel Samurai Ballad
Any critique is very welcome and would be much appreciated!

Also, any requests are welcome.

I'm changing all the YouTube links as the page performance is tanking a lot.

Dude, that's pretty awesome. I went and subscribed to your channel, as I'd love to hear more from you.

How long have you been playing piano for? I'd love to take it up myself but being 19 and having never even attempted to play a musical instrument I've kinda left it a little late unfortunately.

Either way, I'd love to hear some more video game covers honestly, although the other stuff is also really nice to listen to.

Keep up the great work!

I've been playing for about 11/12 years now, although I didn't really get properly into piano until about 3 or 4 years ago. That was when I stopped playing Grade Music and started playing things I wanted in my piano lessons. I had no drive before then, but listening and then eventually playing Nuvole Bianche by Einaudi really inspired me to play more. I'm so glad I managed to saw Einaudi live last year, and I'm going to see him again on his new tour this year which should be great also.

I listened, and I give the people what they want ;)
So here's the Love Theme from Mass Effect
Love Theme
Here's For River (Solo) from To the Moon
For River
and here's the Steel Samurai Ballad from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Steel Samurai Ballad

I have a big folder of video game music (some I can't play, but I have goals to play someday) so I'll hopefully get through a few every now and then.

To be honest, Einaudi is a great intro into more classical music as he takes elements from all sorts of genres. He quite often gets rated near the top of Classical FMs best composers list, and understandably so. He even is a UK Top 40 artist with I Giorni.

I hope so too, its always great to listen to others and something to have on in the background.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!

Post by GuitarHero » Mon Feb 22, 2016 11:49 pm

Lol, my 2 videos Einaudi have been picked up by YouTube's content ID system and in a way that's gratifying that it feels like its similar to the original!

Anyway, today I thought I'd do something a little different - The Spongebob Theme:
Spongebob Theme
I also now have a Facebook Page, if that's your sort of thing too.

This is very cool to see/hear, keep it up!

And more VGM would be nice. Not sure Beyond Good and Evil has much that works well on just piano though..

Really digging that song of healing. Can I request something? I'd love to hear something from The Binding of Isaac if you're capable of it, there's not that many piano covers on YouTube that I can find, so I'm really curious to hear what it might sound like.

Alternatively, Song of Storms to match that Song of Healing would be awesome.

Keep up the amazing work.

Yeah, I'll give the Binding of Isaac a go - might be a bit of a challenge but I like challenges :p

I think I found a few pieces from it that seem manageable to sight read/play through a few times, but I'll add one of the more complex ones to my to do list too! Also, I'll give Song of Storms a look too, cheers.

Then onto one of my favourite pieces from Super Mario Galaxy - Family

Then lastly here's some more Einaudi, one of my favourites in fact
Samba

Pokémon 20th Anniversary

Post by GuitarHero » Sat Feb 27, 2016 4:12 pm

Thanks, I have plenty more of both so no worries there!

As its the 20th Anniversary of the first Pokémon games' release (at least in Japan) today, I thought I'd do some Pokémon tunes.

So here's my favourite of the bunch I did, The Lament of Falling Stars from Pokémon ΩRαS
Lament of Falling Stars
and a bit more old skool now, with the Opening Theme to Pokémon Red and Blue
Opening Theme
now some short sound effects from the originals, here's when you're Pokémon are healed
Healed
and the Poké Flute
Poké Flute

Right, so time for a few more pieces.
Here's the Main Theme from the indie game Papers, Please:
Main Theme
which was quite fun to play. Also got Puzzles from Professor Layton:
Puzzles
A tune you've heard a lot if you've ever played the games. Another piece from Galaxy, the Opening Theme:
Opening Theme
the first thing you'll hear if you play the game. Lastly, thought I'd mix some things up with some chill Mozart with Ave verum corpus:
Ave verum corpus

Any more suggestions as I'm all ears.

Do you get the sheet music online, or do you play by ear?

I'd love to play by ear, but I'm really not good at that all. Over the summer, I might try and improve that skill but at the moment, yeah mainly from sheet music.

A lot of the sheet music I get are from generally ninsheetmusic and ichigos (if you were interested), plus a few other sites I know of.

As I'm posting, here's another update:
This one is Silent Moon from Hotel Dusk
Silent Moon
I'm a big fan of the Kyle Hyde games, so expect some more from there in the future.

I've been thinking of doing something similar I've been playing piano for along time and want to record some covers,

What equipment do you use to record? camera, microphone etc.

Go for it, it'd be good to hear more music on here.

I'm hoping to invest in a better set-up at some point, but at the moment everything is done through my phone. I plug the headphones into the keyboard, wedge my phone in between the headphones and it works well enough... most of the time. This has the consequence of me not being able to hear what I'm playing that well, but its loud enough. Just not very good at picking up bass, and ideally I'd want the audio and video separately but over summer I might go about doing that.

Rather than double post, thought I'd just repost with the added videos so here we go.
Here's something from Mass Effect 3, Leaving Earth:
Leaving Earth
Now the opening theme from Twilight Princess, coming out nicely considering the HD re-release
Opening Theme
Some more from Hotel Dusk, this time Secrets (or Mila's theme I think?)
Secrets
Some more Einaudi with Dietro Casa one of the first pieces of his I learnt.
Dietro Casa
Short and sweet with the Rescue Fanfare from the original Super Mario Bros.
Rescue Fanfare
The title from Ocarina of Time now
Title Theme
Lastly, another piece from Super Mario Galaxy, the Girl's Sadness
The Girl's Sadness

Thanks (:

I've gone and changed all the YouTube embeds to links, as the page performance was starting to tank considerably.

Anyway, so I'm going to try and go through all the Animal Crossing: New Leaf hours at some point so here's the first one: 1 AM and 1 AM (Rainy).

Now another piece from the Kyle Hyde series, this time from Last Window.
Promise.

Finally, a track from Pokémon Black & White (appears in X & Y too) with two different versions of it.
Unwavering Emotions and Unwavering Emotions (incl. Ending)
As you can tell, the second version has a nice ending to it which I quite liked.

I'll have a look, but it might take a while to learn that.

Right, quite a few pieces in bound now.
To start off, here's the song that Satyr plays in Spyro 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vm4p6cbj-u0
Another piece from Super Mario Galaxy, this time Birth
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7oMmZVCgHQ
Now the File Select music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJVHmrxo018
A short sound effect from Super Mario Bros., Time Warning.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPKF88CT6WY
Here's the ending theme too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-Kf1uNfWKo
A cover of K.K. Slider from Animal Crossing, as it was my birthday not so long ago - K.K. Birthday
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6_HcKz9t18
More short tunes now, with the Game Over fom Ocarina of Time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfM1Jedr-2M
Something a little different now, the Theme from Family Guy. The lyrics are in the description if you want to sing along ;)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef6ObayFRaU
Finally, a new Einaudi cover - Fairytale. One of the most chill Einaudi pieces out there (that's saying something!)

This is nice, hope to hear the 4AM theme if you get around to it as I find it one of the more interesting tracks from Animal Crossing. Would probably fare pretty well on solo piano too, as it was probably composed that way I'd imagine.

I've now recorded it and all the others before it so expect to see it at some point :)

Right, so now another lot of videos, the last that I set to be published before I came back from uni.
Starting off, here's Norwell from Professor Layton and Miracle Mask. A very mysterious piece, captures the ominous style of the situation.

Next its another sound effect, the Power Up Sound Effect from Super Mario Bros.

Now to another piece from a favourite game of mine, Silent Tears from Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. A very thoughtful and relaxing piece that is the epitome of the game.

Another sound effect, this time from a different game. Zelda Saved Fanfare from The Legend of Zelda.

A second piece from Professor Layton, Folsense from Professor Layton and Pandora's Box. Has such a dreamy feeling, which if you've played the games you know all is not what it seems about that town.

Finally, something a little different. As it is my girlfriend's birthday today, I decided to record me playing Happy Birthday. I also found a longer version which I quite liked, so here's the Longer Version.
If its your birthday today, happy birthday to you too!

Right Fabong, I'm up to 4AM now so I'll do an update.

So here's more hour music from New Leaf:
2 AM, 3 AM and 4 AM.
Plus here's the rainy versions:
2 AM (Rain), 3 AM (Rain) and 4 AM (Rain).

Now here's two more Einaudi pieces. First is Corale which is just a simple (yet effective) piece that opens his 2013 album In a Time Lapse. Secondly, here is also a piece from In a Time Lapse - Discovery at Night. I had great fun playing this one as its one I know well, plus it has a soothing tune to boot.
