RichardUK's Random Photos

Post by RichardUK » Thu Jun 04, 2015 12:34 am

I thought i would take my camera out with me from time to time and take some photos to share on here, they will be of places i go on days out or simply just random stuff,

3rd June 2015 - Skegness, Lincolnshire

Does anyone know what the thing is in the photo above ? what ever it is i didn't want to go near it !!!

Well that was Skegness or as we call it locally "SkegVegas" people can get a little snobby and look down on Skegness but the beach is really rather nice, its a shame about the 100's of offshore wind turbines but i suppose they have to be somewhere, i was surprised by how they was no one else there, it was like having my very own private beach, i had a paddle and although it was sunny the sea was freezing, but Skegness tagline is "it's so bracing" and it certainly was that !, we also went to the Parrot Zoo near by, ive taken some photos there but there just of animals,

Hope you enjoyed them and i really want to know what that last sea creature is

I've never actually seen a starfish washed up on a beach like that, i've only ever found them when looking in rockpools.

No idea what the last creature is though.

same here but there were hundreds all along the beach (that's not a exaggeration) there must of been some sort of starfish disaster

I've never even seen a real starfish before, I always look but never see them. That starfish photo is really cool, makes me want to see if I can go and find some when I'm on holiday next year.

sadly i think it was a bad day for Starfish in that area, i tapped a few that were on the beach and they didn't move at all so i think they were all dead, i would have picked them up to see but i have no idea if they sting or not, the crab how ever i did take to the sea as there were loads of seagulls about and other dismembered crabs so didn't want him to have the same fate, when i picked him up he was spraying something out of his bum area that must not taste very nice to predators maybe ??

the weird tentacle thing i still have no idea what that was, but im 99.9% sure that thing would have stung me !!

Looks like a jellyfish to me. It was wise not to touch it, I know for a fact that there are some pretty dangerous ones in this country - I don't believe enough to kill you but definitely enough to put you in A&E. My great uncle went to the beach a few years ago and got stung by one, he had to go to A&E and he couldn't walk too well on his one leg for a few weeks after it.

i have been looking on Google images searching for "jellyfish uk" and there where also hundreds of baby jellyfish on the beach in one area, they looked at first to be foam from the sea, i didn't take a photo but they looked like this http://www.zippix.co.uk/uploads/PICS/an ... h-8463.jpg again thankfully i didn't stand on them, being stung by a wasp when i was younger was bad enough !!

 both very good guesses, im happy to accept there common names so it doesn't need to be there Latin or Scientific names, although the Latin names are used when talking about parrots as they are needed to avoid confusion from similar species when legal documentation is required such as CITIES

all four photos are of different types of Amazon Parrots (Amazona)

Yeah, Skegness really isn't all that nice a place beach wise... What's surprising is Ingoldmells, literally 5 minutes down the road, is actually really nice beach-wise, it's such a stark contrast you'd think you'd gone further than 5 minutes away.

cool!, yeah we have been every year for the past 8 years, we always have a few nights at beechfield house hotel, apart from the first time we went in 2007 and ended up sleeping in the car in some woodlands near there, its a beautiful area and i didn't realize you lived so close

I've climbed the big hill just outside the main entrance (by the A362 roundabout) after crossing the open fields.

There was even a crop circle in said fields a couple of years back ;)
