Ruby & Saphire were always the weakest of the mainline Pokémon games anyway and I won't hear a word said otherwise.

I swear people just troll online though.
I came across one person who had Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre, all with the ability to Mega Evolve. What chance did my Eeveelution team stand?
Also, Level 100 Umbreon, and soon to be Level 100 Espeon and Flareon.
Got a full box of Eevee trying for a five IV Eevee.

That's not trolling though, that's what playing no specific meta is.

You'd almost certainly find more success at competitive battling if you didn't use an Eeeveelution team, none of them are particularly bad Pokémon but they all have weaknesses that mean most can only make a very limited contribution to your team, mainly because of their shallow movepools.

Ah, I just jumped straight in without a plan and with no set up, just to get a feel.
If I did consider going for another round, I'd certainly swap out all Eeveelutions for some of my other more powerful 'mon. I certainly have a Ludicolo I could put to use.

That's the thing, it's the wrong place to try competitive play. You'd be far better off just playing on PS to get a feel for things and to actually play some of the metagames, there's just no benefit to going online with a game when that's available to you.

Plus PS has randbats which as we all know is the best meta

Actually thinking on it randbats is probably a good introduction to competitive battling, it introduces you to various move/stat builds on individual Pokemon that you might never have considered otherwise. I'd always dismissed Slurpuff as a bit meh for instance, but having done a random battle with the Belly Drum/Unburden/Sitrus set it's gained a lot more appeal. Only shortfall is that (obviously) it doesn't give you any practice building teams, but for getting an idea of the sort of things you'll see in the meta it's pretty helpful.

As I've said before, I'm not a competitive battler, and nor do I ever expect to be.
It's at least good to experience it though. Through that Pokemon Showdown app, and the random battles, I've had a good experience of what it takes.
And looking through all those tier lists, and on Bulbapedia, I can see why the Eeveelutions are in underused. Hardly any of their moveset changes from type to type.

Baton Pass is the only reason I'd use any of them.

Espeon was like one of the best sweepers in the meta before the baton pass rule got put in.

Gen 5 was the best generation. I have no real opinion on Gen 6.

Didn't know many others agreed with me on that. BW1 > BW2 though.

I enjoyed both of them actually. I'd still B2/W2 were some of the better Pokémon games that have been made.

Yeah, Gen 5 was a breath of fresh air for the franchise. I know it has its fair share of haters, but the focus on story and characters is something that X/Y seemed to lack (although AZ is definitely one of the high points of the Kalos saga). Didn't hurt that Unova had the most Pokemon added since the series began.

Gen 5 was really enjoyable - especially BW2. Hadn't enjoyed a main series Pokémon game that much since FR/LG. Well, until X/Y came out anyway.

Everyone knows gen 4 was by far the worst gen.
