Just downloaded AS

I get to Slateport and decide to enter a contest.

Gave my Lombre all of my Pink PokeBlocks to boost cuteness

Then when he wins the cuteness appeal round oh my word the best experience of my life. (Lombre surrounded by hearts and pink all whilst looking his usual glum self, the definition of cuteness)

10/10 best pokemon game ever

So anyone who wasn't lucky enough to get an Eon Ticket through Streetpass can now download it through Mystery Gift! The code for the download is POKEMON380381. You can then take the ticket to Norman in Petalburg to use it.

As though the game doesn't make it clear enough already...

So, I took my first step into the world of IV's yesterday.
Took to route 116 and DexNav'd a load of Eevee until a two star potential cropped up. Caught it, checked its stats, trained it up a bit while also following its EV gain, found out it had three perfect IV's in HP, Attack, and Defence. I suppose now I can breed with it to see if that increases. Or maybe see if a Ditto can get perfect IV's with the other three.
I don't know fully how it works yet.

You can get a shiny Charazard from GAME. Just have to ask the staff for a code at the tills.

I don't know as this is worth a thread of its own but it's a really interesting read about the real-life Pokémon regions and the underlying plot and meaning between each game. Have a look.

Is it possible to post screenshots of these games on Miiverse with a New 3DS, like with Smash Bros, or is it not an option all all like with X and Y?
PM me if you decide to add me on 3DS or Wii U

Finally got my hands on OR yesterday (with a new New 3DS, which unfortunately doesn't have a music player). Only played OR for like two hours so far but it's a lot of fun. My starter pokemon is Torchic, who I called Firebird. I was asked to evolve him but I decided against it because it's evolution isn't as cute. I've beaten the first gym, which turned out to be a rock-type gym (so it was a little difficult against my fire pokemon) but it's fun. My trainer's called Diana but I'm wondering something plotwise:
is the Norman guy we see in the first gym our father? Because the stuff he says isn't exactly father-ish. Where's the cosy catchup and all that? And why the heck isn't he at home with mother?

Yes, that's his father. He's not at home because he's doing his job. He's not having a cosy catch-up because that's not what people do everytime they meet.

He does spend a long amount of time in Petalburg, but there's not really much saying he doesn't see them often. Only a line in the post game that he doesn't get to take a break often. Plus this is Japan, it's not that uncommon for father's to not really see much of their family with work being a thing all the time.

Decided that as I've effectively given up on VGC for 2015 (possibly bar another premier challenge for the fun of it) I'm going to start soft resetting for the event 'mon I have littered over every game from 4th gen onwards. I'd been holding back from claiming them in case I wanted them for something in the future, but considering I pretty much exclusively play VGC now and that has the pentagon rule there's no point in keeping anything pre-gen 6. May as well go for an adequate IV spread and clear the games of events so I can replay through them. (*The NewMoon Darkrai I caught earlier was Modest with 31 in Speed and mid 20's everything else for example. Dude at the door to the Inn said that they'd had a reservation for a very long time, I assume that's scripted and not a clever reference to the 6 year wait between receiving the item and claiming the Darkrai).

It also made me realise that as well as event Pokémon no longer being distributed at real life events there aren't really any events in game either (sequences that require a specific item/Pokémon to trigger them). Off the top of my head Platinum had Shaymin, Darkrai, the Regi's and Arceus at Spear Pillar, whilst HG/SS has the Lati@s in Pewter City, Jirachi for the Pokewalker, Spiky Ear Pichu, the Sinjoh Ruins and everything 4th gen had the Celebi/Shiny Dogs that unlocked Zorua/Zoroark in B/W. B/W cut down on the number of in game events with just the aforementioned Zorua/Zoroark, Victini and Genosect being the only non-Dream World Pokémon I can think of. And so far in 6th gen... pretty much direct downloads only, I can't think of any in game event besides the Eon ticket. There are arguments both ways as to whether that's good or not (I quite liked them personally) but it's an interesting observation all the same. Makes me wonder if they'll include them ingame for future remakes (like the included Deoxys in ORAS).

Speaking of remakes, I was just travelling around Platinum and I'm already reminded how much more I prefer Sinnoh to Hoenn, plus there's all kinds of details I'd forgotten about like the way music subtly changes from day to night. I'm actually quite hyped for the inevitable D/P remakes now, much more so than I ever was for ORAS.

Also; ev training in 4th gen sucks.

I wouldn't go that far

Average at best, perhaps

As for the whole game, maybe

Perhaps not "eton mess", just "not great"

I feel it lost a lost in its transition to Gen 6. But then that's just me being a sentimental old fart eh

In any case, I finished my run and have no desire to go back to it at all

My main problem with the Delta Episode was that YOU WENT INTO SPACE! IT WAS SO OUT OF PLACE.

True poetry.

Eh, not really. If anything it's just paying homage to the originals and the most popular fan theory in those games (that you get to go to space)

I'm so not a competitive battler.
First online match in ages ended in defeat, and I'm sure this next one will too.
