Whatever mix of types I come across in the wild. Only ever thought about teams pre-game in BW2 because that had an interesting early game dex.

Just out of interest what are you all thinking for your in game team?
See, that's why I usually don't bother with a pseudo-legendary. By the time I encounter its basic form I'm usually right near the end of the game and have a group of pokemon I've trained throughout the adventure and grown attached to so I want to see the story through to the end with them. Plus catching a pseudo legendary and grinding it to quickly reach the ideal level just seems a bit cheap and tedious by then. I've also never really been into competitive battling so the only reason I usually have for catching and evolving a pseudo-legendary is to complete the pokedex.

It got really ridiculous with Hydreigon in Black/White, though. You can't catch Deino until Victory Road and it evolves at a stupidly high level.

I've never really bothered planning a team besides the starter which will obviously be the best Treecko.

Well I only know I'm starting with Treecko and catching Tailow ASAP, will catch a Pikachu as well because no matter how rubbish it's stats are it's Pikachu! Other than that I've no idea, want to try some new Pokemon (to me anyway) so may try Milotic or Walrein as a water type, maybe Torkoal or Camerput as my fire, see what takes my fancy!

I'm sticking with my original Sapphire team for tradition's sake, so Blaziken, Pelliper, Ludicolo, Armaldo (or Metagross whenever I get access to one), Glalie and Kyogre. If MegaColo becomes a thing (pretty please Game Freak) then two thirds (or five sixths If I take Metagross) of my team is going to be Mega capable, which'll be fun.

I don't really use the Mega feature that much, I will for Mega Sceptiles though as it looks ace and becomes part dragon. The problem with the mega feature is every Pokemon will eventually have a mega evolution or they'll be left behind.

All I plan is the starter which will either be Treecko or Mudkip, a flyer which I guess will be Tailow? Depends what I've found up to the point you get Fly. And a surfer who has to be totally rad if I don't choose Muddykippers.

I just go with whatever I feel in the mood for from what I find.

I was always pretty sure I'd pick Mudkip again, and Mega Swampert confirmed it, but other than that I'm not really sure yet. I usually try to have at least one pokemon primarily of each type which are rotated out of my party, with my starter (usually Water with Surf) and Flyer being the most frequent members. But since I won't have the Treecko and Torchic I always traded to get for playthroughs of the original games, I'll need to pick new Grass and Fire-types. I'm also trying to remember what fighting types there were in R/S/E besides Makuhita and Hariyama, because I've always been a bit iffy about the latter's design.

I know I'm starting with Treecko and catching Wingull as per usual, but after that I don't know. Might go for a Torkoal since I haven't used one ingame before and it's cool as gooseberry fool. Don't know other than that, I'm usually quite sporadic when it comes to ingame, which I think helps with keeping it interesting.

Shame on you, not picking Tropius in all its 3D glory.

I have three mon planned so far for my team; BodyBuild'Pert, Altaria (hope I can mega evolve it before post game) and Shiftry. The rest will most likely be whatever takes my fancy as I'm playing.

I'm definitely going to be using Ludicolo, that's the only one for certain.

Has anyone here used a Tropius in their party before? I'm thinking of using it for my Grass-type (probably between that and Ludicolo), and I know anything works in-game and all that, but I'm sure I once heard somewhere that it wasn't very good...

It takes hits fairly well and it has a variety of moves; Body Slam, Air Slash, Leaf Tornado and Fly which are decent in game.

I've used it in-game a few times and I must say it has never let me down.

Hm, maybe I'll go for it then. I don't know why but for some reason I was always a little put off by its sprite, maybe I couldn't imagine it actually flying, but seeing it in the demo has convinced me that it's actually not bad. Plus I didn't know before that it actually had four leaves on its back, not just three.

Normally when I don't know how my team will go I opt for the water starter to guarantee a surfer and then whatever catches my fancy. If Spinda hordes are available I might use one of them but apart from that I'll see what happens.

Also ORAS and Smash Wii U are out the same day now, my poor bank account.

I'm also hoping you don't get as many pokemon forced on you in these games as in previous ones. I mean, in X/Y I liked getting another starter early in the game, and I suppose Lapras was alright (even though Water and Ice types were already covered by Blastoise and Aurorus), but I really didn't need a Lucario.

I'm perfectly fine with receiving lots of gift Pokémon, at the very least they're still an extra entry in the Pokédex.

Yeah, but I don't like to leave pokemon in boxes and never use them. And when a pokemon is given as a gift I feel an extra obligation not to abandon it. So I'm left with a choice to either limit my pokemon as much as possible, at least until I've beaten the game, or grind and level up every single pokemon I obtain equally which often ends up taking ages. And Pokemon-Amie has only extended that time.

Probably going to use Mega Swampert seeing as it's a good check to what I would expect to be popular Mega's in doubles (Mawile, Salamence, Camerupt, Metagross). Sceptile with Lightningrod utility looks really nice as well, and I'm sure it'll get a lot of use. Very powerful starters in my opinion
