I also find it kinda funny you hated me for using Suicune but you use both Pika Libra and Mewtwo ">_>

Suicune has great zoning, good up close play, tons of damage and high Hp, all while being decently fast. You can literally spam several moves with little to no repercussion. Mewtwo's most spammable move is Hyper beam, and it's extremely punishable. R.Pika lacks Hp, and needs to have momentum to do any damage above average. Suicune is just a better rounded character, and has less counter options.

Those sound like salty johns if ever I heard them. By all means some characters are a pain to deal with but you just put in the time to learn how to deal with them, literally no excuses.

Didn't they release a patch recently to deal with Mewtwo having an infinite combo or something along those lines?

EDIT: Oh, it was Shadow Mewtwo. Good fact checking me.

I'm not the best Suicune (yet) but from experience I feel like the biggest weakness is close combat. A lot of start up to most of it's attacks. Suicune doesn't have many set ups as much as the rest of the cast does either. Which can easily be exposed. If CPU's can easily counter through my zoning and spamming techniques I'm sure every human play can as well. Dash cancelling is Suicune's worst enemy in neutral. Put us in corners and we're pretty much done for too. Have lost many rounds to being chocked against walls.

Seeing as how the easiest strategy in this game is to play the keep-away game, a character who can do that extremely well while being tankier than Chandelure and other zoning characters is very good. Not saying it's broken, but Suicune is a very hard character to deal with. Mewtwo's very good, but he can't play a keep-away game half as well as Suicune.

That's the only part that makes Suicune a chore to deal with and I feel like many people exploit it. But again, use of counters and knowing how to approach easily quells a lot those barriers. Once people start learning the MU more, many Suicune players will start feeling the pressure back. We should play a few games sometime tho. Might be able learn a few things from each other.

Would be nice, but I haven't been playing it enough (or at all really). Too busy already doing that with Smash.

Been trying out a few other characters in single player matches against the CPU of interest, whenever I've been up against a Gengar he has always looked like a fun character to play as and he certainly has some interesting moves. In particular the fact that his moveset changes when he Mega Evolves and his combos when pulled off well look deadly. I know from experience when I've played against one.

Red League is my next target in the Ferrum League and it looks like I might be getting close to unlocking Mewtwo.

I mean playing good players obviously helps you improve, but I can't afford to be shilling out money to get better.

Eh, is always a good way to get better faster. Why in America there's a big thing for arcade players as a rule of thumb developing better because putting cash forwards to play gives more incentive to get good.

Plus yeah, you're going to a tour with consistently good players, it's a great chance to see good players live and learn things. Even better if you get to lose against them and learn first hand. No-one's going to win the first tour they go to anyway.

To get better you want to play against real people, and do it in real life rather than online. Jezo's right, you should enter tourneys if you want to get better. For example (using an example of a Smash tourney here) there are plenty of people who come to the Manchester Smash Bros events, not because they want to win, it's because they want to improve by coming along and actually playing against better players. It's the same for me, I go to tourneys with the mindset of wanting to improve, rather than wanting to win. Local tournaments don't generally cost too much either. It's really only the national tourneys which you are expected to pay a pretty expensive tournament fee.

Anyway, I've had this game for 2 weeks now and still haven't played it. I should get to that.

While the AI does progressively get more complex as you go through the main game they don't block your finishing moves the same way human players do, not to mention you're going to play a lot more people using optimum strategies by playing human players and especially if you're playing someone who knows you well and can therefore guess what you are going to do and counter you quickly.

Being a quick thinker and having equally quick reactions also helps a ton if you want to improve at fighting games. Often I see the best players are often processing what they are going to do while paying attention to what their opponent is doing and trying to predict what they are going to do, and then react accordingly, all within about half a second. That's a lot to do within that amount of time and I would say that if you can't think that fast, then you're probably going to be somewhere within the middle tier in terms of this skill.

Japanese consumers will soon be able to get their hands on this ultra-colourful Pikachu themed Pokken Tournament controller in June. A number of retailers have begun taking pre-orders for the controller including popular importer, Play Asia. As you can see from the shots below it looks as though it’s a must have for Pokken Tournament fans.
