Are we going to be getting a Top 100 games vote this year? I seem to recall it was a yearly tradition on the old forums and it would be nice to continue that on SONM.

The Retro forum is seeming a little dead. May be time to just pack it in, and sort the threads into GNC or General Gaming.

At only 2 pages it's one of the smaller forums. Same as Pokemon and GAAW, and it's ahead of sport (1 page), but these other forums cover a bit more of a niche and are less easily split off into other places. And unlike Pokémon it's not going to get regular bursts of activity, from fairly frequent releases of Pokémon games and related media. And of course the place has the fewest posts - somehow fewer than forum feedback.

Whilst Retro may only have a small number of visitors, it still has a very select group of members frequent in regular patterns. Having said that, we have brought it into consideration in the mod room before now about possibly merging it with GNC. If Retro continues to decline in activity, then we'll more than likely put forward an option to the rest of the site about it, and see if anyone still wants it as is.

Possibly in the new year. I know that Kess will be hosting this year's thread for the best games of 2015, so after that then a Top 100 of all time definitely makes sense (:

Feature request: have a way to set the default formatting for a post - a user can specify the tags they want to surround each post with by default.

Would probably please a lot of people here.

Hi phalanx, do you have auto-login to other websites that does work? If not it could be that your browser is set to clear cookies every 24 hours or so.

Awards are under active discussion in the mod-room, don't worry.

Got a message from Komodo Joe today to initiate the plan Redfox123 and bring the riot to SONM if the awards fail to start with him as host by September 3rd. Delays to Redfox123 implementation be expected.

I assume it will be because you are a new member and have a low post count.

You should be able to create new topics. If you still can't please let me know, as that means something has gone wrong!

The TSF have a few questions to the mods:

1. Why has the fisher thread been locked and the do we need prisons thread allowed to flourish after the latter was dismissed as poor bait by the mods.
2. The discrepancies regarding Fisher and his posting habits have been pointed out by members of the TSF months before any forum wide attention was garnered. In light of this and for clarification:
a) is he actually a bot? If so why were the comments of the TSF ignored and why was it not dealt with then?
b) if he isn't a bot have the mods put effort in to educate him on forum etiquette or were the observations of the TSF entirely ignored?
3. In order to avoid any of the issues raised today by the TSF, would it be wise to implement a character minimum limit on posts to encourage meaningful content?

The Fisher thread has zero discussion point and only runs the risk of being mean to another user with no gain. I locked this before reading HDYFRN, but I still would have locked it because it is a pointless thread.

This is the first I am aware of any observations, so they weren't ignored so much as never noticed. Send a PM, make a report or post here next time.

We're looking into it now to find out what the situation is - I'm currently thinking that his account was probably taken over and botted, but certainly wasn't to begin with.

It makes much more sense to deal with any issues on a case-by-case basis rather than introducing an arbitrary minimum character threshold that will no doubt trip genuine users up.
