Looks great. Nice to see ONM Archives get a mention too. You may wanna change how, when we click on the logo at the top of the page, we're brought to forum index, not welcome page.

Found it a bit amusing that the text at the bottom of each picture practically - in some cases word for word - repeats what the big bold text in the picture already says.
It looks great, anyway. Long live SONM!

Re: Introducing... Super ONM's Home Page!
Thanks for all the feedback guys, glad to see so much is positive too!
It currently deliberately doesn't comply with the user theme - simply making it widescreen without seriously changing up the layout looks terrible (as the images themselves don't change size), so for now at least this works better, and does fit in with the default theme that the majority use. It may well get expanded in the future though!row101 wrote:That's a good point, it doesn't comply with the user theme. Would be nice to have widescreen display and a red banner if a user has selected them for the forum theme. Not complaining though, really good work so far.
I think this is the better behaviour, as I know I myself always use the banner to get back to the board index, and that is what people will be more likely to want to click through to.GhostOfWintrfellSnow wrote:Looks great. This is partly because the caption text wasn't there in the first couple of drafts, so the images were the only title. This probably won't be quite so repetitive with future features!liberal wrote:Found it a bit amusing that the text at the bottom of each picture practically - in some cases word for word - repeats what the big bold text in the picture already says.

I like it, having a place to highlight featured content can only be a good thing. It might be handy to include a short description of things in the future along with the title, particularly things with obtuse titles.

GNAMER doesn't seem to exist anymore so logo and link could be removed from the opening page

The forums still exist the URL has changed though so that's what's causing the problem.

Re: Introducing... Super ONM's Home Page!
They definitely do still exist and the url hasn't changed - rather, it is now setup incorrectly as the redirect fails. The page it takes you to should have gnamer as the first visible link.
It's definitely not ideal but I was hoping it would get fixed. The full url is http://messedupcables.forumotion.net/

It's proving a challenge to get sorted. You can also access the forums through http://www.gnamer.org.uk

Re: Introducing... Super ONM's Home Page!
I'm new to SONM and I do like the home page. Just checking, though... is there a wee bug? It seems that if you're on a forum page and you're logged on, if you then navigate to the home page SONM thinks you're logged out. But, if you use your browser to go back, you remain logged in.
I don't think I'm doing anything daft :-).

Re: Introducing... Super ONM's Home Page!
What about the home page makes you think you're logged out jawa? It's just a static page that gets updated so there isn't anything that changes depending on if you are logged in or not. The one thing you might notice is that if you are using an alternate forum style, like Super ONM or Super Blue, this doesn't change the formatting or appearance of the home page.

Re: Introducing... Super ONM's Home Page!
If you're logged into the forum and then click on the "Home" link, you're taken to the home page but logged out of the forum. You can't immediately tell, but if you then click on the "Forum" link on the home page you can see that you're logged out (as the "Logon" link appears). The odd thing is that you can use the "Back" button on your browser a few times to get back to the forum... and you're logged in again!OrangeRakoon wrote:What about the home page makes you think you're logged out jawa?...
Nothing major, dude, but just a small thing I've noticed :-).

Re: Introducing... Super ONM's Home Page!
Ah okay! That's odd, it doesn't happen for me. Are you using www.sonm.uk or just sonm.uk? That might be making a difference although it all seems to work for me.
Thanks for letting me know though, I'll have a look :)

Would SONM require a cookie under some different name?
OR, sorry if I'm doing something silly here!

Re: Introducing... Super ONM's Home Page!
Well it's sonm.uk, not sonm.co.uk, so that could well be it! You'll know if you aren't using cookies because phpbb will fall back to using an SID in the url to identify you/keep you logged in. It's probably a bug that this doesn't persist over the home page because it's an additional custom page which I haven't set up to do so.
Change your rules to allow cookies from the .uk domain rather than the .co.uk domain and hopefully all shall be good.
