Bit more Zelda, first race of my second season on F1 2017 but they're both taking a backseat for a few days.

Been playing Super Mario Odyssey today and it is amazing, can't reccomend it enough :)

Super Mario Odyssey. Played it for three hours straight and most of that was in the first main level. Got 17 Moons and 46 Purple Coins in the first level but have no idea where the other 4 Purple Coins are and Ive searched the entire level. I wonder if it's possible that I'm missing a potential upgrade later in the game that I need.

Speaking of that first major level...

Just so you know you can get all 50 purple coins first time through, obviously I have no idea which ones you're missing but it's doable!

You know what? From what I've played so far I would have to agree. I know I'm early on but so far I don't have anything negative to say against this game. It seems Nintendo have not only gone back to the Super Mario 64 style, they've taken it to the next level in the same way that games like the Banjo-Kazooie games and Jak & Daxter did before them. You don't get booted out of levels when you get the main collectable and Nintendo have finally realised that a lives system is redundant in modern platformers and removed it.

Hopefully the loss of a lives system doesn't impact the game's difficulty too much later on. I've come to accept that Mario games are going to be very easy early on because, let's face it, Mario is a game that is built to be accessible for everyone so the first levels have to be super easy, but hopefully the difficulty ramps up and the final boss proves to be a challenge, because I feel that EAD Tokyo's track record in final bosses is rather patchy, Galaxy 2 and 3D World spring to mind in rather easy final bosses.

Started Assassin's Creed Origins, and it has allowed me to ride a camel which is incredibly neat!

I'm not going to say that Mario Odyssey is better than BoTW or vice versa, they're both fantastic games that are both must haves in my opinion. Wouldn't even want to be a in a situation where I had to pick one.

I'd pick BOTW for what it's worth

They're both fantastic games and it's not really fair to compare them though

More Super Mario Odyssey. Got 87 moons so far and just completed the Wooded Kingdom. Impressed with just how many moons there are in this game to collect and just how many are in each level, compared to this the 120 stars in Mario 64 seem like a really small amount. Nice to see Nintendo breaking away from that tradition and using a more powerful system to just put in as many as possible rather than being confined to 120 and having to throw in additional "bonus" rewards.

However, I'm still not the biggest fan of the Mario series forcing all bosses to be 3 hits and their dead. The bosses so far have mostly been like this so you pretty much always know when they are going to get beaten, but I can excuse that for the earlier levels.

EDIT: That said, the spaceship boss in Wooded Kingdom was actually a pretty decent challenge, took me multiple attempts to beat him so kudos to Nintendo for that one.

Going through the Evil Within 2 and I'm really glad it doesn't run like a slide show like the original, and the plot does make much more sense. The semi-open world of Union is actually not that bad, it's big enough with plenty of houses to go into and secrets to find. My only really problem I have with it, is that I don't think it's a scary atmospheric as the original.

Also been going through South Park and while I haven't got a lot of knowledge about the series it's a very funny game with a very enjoyable rpg mechanic.

Still Super Mario Odyssey. Finished the admittedly rather short underwater level and progressed past the first major Bowser boss fight. Given it's such a big boss fight I went in appropriately dressed...

Image

Given how previous games like this have gone I'm assuming there's going to be a progressive difficulty for them with at least two more fights including the final fight. Although I've got to admit, the scene afterwards is pretty awesome.

Reached the start of the Lost Kingdom and already noticed a Mario 64 callback.

Currently enjoying Stardew Valley. Everyone has probably already played the game to death, but I've only just got it and I'm on the summer of year 1! It's really enjoyable.

Never realised the new Need For Speed was on EA Access ten days early, but playing it, I can feel that they fixed the driving physics from the last one. Aside from the story, which is the usual revenge type narrative [and this one's in the name, let's be honest], it's pretty fun.
Also, I swear the main guy of this is also the voice actor of Chase McCain from LEGO City Undercover. There's just something to the voice.

More Mario Odyssey. Negotiated the Lost Kingdom, will come back later on for more Moons but arrived in New Donk City now and got nearly 20 moons in that level. I had a go at the jump rope challenge but only managed about 27 attemps and then found myself going after other moons, will have to come back for that one. Still need to find the last musician.

Sims 4 through EA Access. While I probably won't get the game this month after those ten hours are up, from the little I've played so far, it holds up well to the PC version. Only time will tell whether Pets is DLC or a full game next November.
