Re: Yooka-Laylee
Star Wars Celebration ended at around 22:00, so almost immediately jumped on. Was loving it so much that I ended up playing to 01:30.
Yes, the camera can be troublesome at times, and there's the occasional frame-drop [even on the loading screen, like what?!?], but it's still an enjoyable game for someone like me. Who doesn't have the nostalgia factor playing a hand.

Re: Yooka-Laylee
Loving the game so far, the Banjo-Kazooie nostalgia factor cannot be underestimated.
As DarkRula said, yes, the camera can be a little iffy sometimes and the frame rate does drop occasionally, but overall it's been a really fun game so far and i'm enjoying it a great deal (love how i was able to expand world 1 to open up new areas too).

Re: Yooka-Laylee
Got it and the weekend and I'm now about to go to the second world and so far I don't really get why reviewers don't like it, I do agree that the camera can be a pain, and the loading screen is awful with it consistently pausing but the game is a charming trip back to the 90's.
I really miss these types of games and I hope we see more of these type of games make a comeback.

everything collected in the first 3 worlds, polish off the last couple soon enough. dunno if these hidden pirate treasures are going to lead to anything, hoping they will.

Not sure if completing this was down to skill, or just sheer dumb luck.

Re: Yooka-Laylee
I've got all 5 of them and all they do is give you a trophy/achievement. Pretty disappointing tbh
So far I've 100%'d the hub and first two worlds, but just got one more pagie to get in both world 3 & 5. The 4th world is so much harder to find everything in - think I've still got like 5 pagies to get and I've already done the arcade ones and minecart one, the latter of which is probably one of the worst gameplay segments I've finished in quite some time.

Re: Yooka-Laylee
I've now reached world 5, and it's my second favourite grand tome after Triblestack Tropics, though this obstacle course led to much cursing every time i messed up...
Took ages to figure out how to do this one too (which was made worse by the fact that it was such a simple solution)...

Re: Yooka-Laylee
It's a shame this game kind of flopped and was received quite negatively.
When this game was announced - everyone was so excited for it and I was just kind of happy there was still a market for this type of game as cute 2D and 3D platformers are generally my favourite types of game. I know when they was developing this game there was talk of giving the characters spin-off games and sequels, I really wanted this to become a franchise.
I have finished it yet and it's not perfect - but this game was everything I wanted it to be just some enjoyable escapism in a 3D platformer in the style of Banjo Kazooie and other early 00's platformers game but with modern graphics.

Re: Yooka-Laylee
Considering the switch version is taking so long perhaps it's because they're building upon it in some way, fixing various issues etc.

Re: Yooka-Laylee
Same for me
I've played a little on my housemate's PS4 so I know I enjoy it. The biggest flaw seems to be that the worlds are all too big to traverse and full of a lot of emptiness, but it doesn't seem enough to kill the game.

Just bought it in the Steam Sale which I was waiting for, though will start it when the update that's due out this month drops. Looking forward to it!

I've not had the chance to play any of it, from the reviews I've seen the worlds do look quite large but without playing it I can't really comment on how empty they are.OrangeRakoon wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 9:04 amSame for me

Well it's your lucky day, the patch has gone live for PC, Mac and Linux today.GuitarHero wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 10:51 amJust bought it in the Steam Sale which I was waiting for, though will start it when the update that's due out this month drops. Looking forward to it!

Re: Yooka-Laylee
Played about 5 hours or so so far, and I'm still trying to work out whether I'm enjoying it or not. There are some bits that are great fun, but I have a lot of little nitpicks that are starting to add up that are detracting from it. It's weird how some bits of the presentation are so polished but others are really lacklustre and dated. Plus I agree with what has been said before about the camera, even with the new update it still gets really stuck at points especially on slopes. I do want to see a sequel though, as I feel like the things that are annoying are definitely fixable.
