Smash is a party game, not a fighting game. Discuss

64 and melee are great fightan games, brawl is ok i guess and 4 is just bad

but they're all good for party gaming (except maybe 4)

Yeah, 64 and Melee are the only ones I would consider proper fighting games. Brawl was designed not to be a fighting game and Smash 4 is like some weird half-child of Brawl and Melee that doesn't know how to live on its own.

Smash 64, Melee and the Project M mod for Brawl are all legitimate fighting games. Smash 64 is especially noticeable because of how it contained what were essentially instant death combos.

50 new things in Smash Bros. U ▼

Creator is back, Options a plenty

means that it will surpass the achievements of Brawl (that it received due to how many ways there were to play it) .. and time and experience playing it, will tell whether it competes with the natural fighting style of Melee. On 3DS 4 gave fans a chance to get some practice in, before the main event.

Got SF3, MvC2, MvC3 and SSF4 on 360, USF4 and JoJo's All Star Battle on PS3. That's it.

Also, Dudley being my SF3 and 4 main, I approve of the thread title.

Hopefully we get the same deal on the DLC characters as America did, screw paying for all 3 of them. Can't wait to play as Rise, realise she's too hard and just go back to Labrys/Chie

I've been trying to get into USF4 too, using Cammy

Cammy was who I used most when I played SSFIV on the 3DS. Am I the only person that finds high level SF really boring to watch compared to other fighting games?

I understand where you're coming from. It's probably boring due to all the 'mind games' between players building tension (as the FGC puts it), yet there isn't much visually going on as the payoff for that tension, unlike in UMvC3 and Smash.

I guess if I actually understood anything about SF that might help me appreciate it more.

Yeah, I find the ridiculous amount of terminology in SF a bit daunting. Limits its accessibility to newcomers (among other things e.g. stick prices in the UK), in all honesty.

Stick prices are insane so I'm glad P4AU can be played competently with a pad

I have a TvC Wii stick (only cost £30 boxed) but I lack the skills, tools, and funds to mod it for PS360 use, sadly.

Valentine forever. Have you had the chance to play as Eliza? She seems pretty fun

Not yet, I haven't actually jumped back to it for a few weeks now. I've got a few days off this week though so I'll probably check her out then. Looking at the vids she's definitely got a lot going on though and looks super fun to play as.

Stick prices aren't too bad, got a Hori for the PS3 for 50 quid.

I'll probably get Ultimax, skipped out on P4A due to not having much interest in it at the time, but the competitive scene for it seemed fun.
