PSVita: what games worth getting? (for reals this time)

Post by Spilskinanka » Fri May 29, 2015 5:03 pm

I made a thread like this not too long ago but for Xbox 360. Well, I didn't end up getting one of them oops

But hopefully I will be getting a PS Vita soon and was wondering if the good folk of SONM could open my eyes to the best the systems has to offer. I already have a few in mind (Wipeout 2048 (of course), Gravity Rush and P4G) but was wondering if anyone could highlight a few games that I may not have heard of/are great in general.

Freedom Wars is supposed to be pretty good from what I've heard. Dangan Ronpa 1+2 if you're interested in those kinds of games too.

Tearaway's short but oh so very sweet, and Muramasa Rebirth's fairly good fun too.

Off the top of my head;

For exclusives, Danganronpa 1/2, Demon Gaze (DRPG), Gravity Rush (eton mess-tier combat, though), Oreshika, Ys Memories of Celceta. And ports, Persona 4 Golden, Muramasa Rebirth (& DLC), Disgaea 3/4 (4's definitely the superior choice of the two, though) are all the best versions of their games. There's the Atelier ports too, but it's more questionable about whether they're better on PS3 or not.

P4G, the Danganronpas and Muramasa the probably the top lot to look at first, though. Steins;Gate, Operation Abyss and the Ar nosurge port are all out fairly soon and should be worth a look too.

Persona 4 Golden
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment

These are the games I own and I've amassed over 300 hours between them.

If you already own a PS3 and/or PS4 with PS+, then definitely get a Vita. You'll get 2-3 games a month for the thing, but also get the games others have already mentioned. Uncharted Golden Abyss and Tearaway being personal favourites of mine.

Oh and Wipeout 2048 isn't really that good. Definitely one of the weaker Wipeout games.

ive not had my PS Vita for a while now but at the time i really liked

Virtua Tennis - obviously if you dont like tennis games then its no good, but i loved it on the Dreamcast and loved it on the Vita, why does no one make tennis games any more ??

Gravity Rush - a game from seeing images of it i didnt think id like, but i really enjoyed it

Uncharted: Golden Abyss - ive never played any other uncharted game so dont know how it stacks up to the others but for me as not having any game to compare it to i thought it was great

Little Big Planet Vita - again like uncharted its the only little big planet game ive played

i also had Unit 13 that wasnt bad, Fifa really good as a handheld version, Ridge Racer massive let down after being a huge ridge racer fan, call of duty was terrible avoid that one !

If you like visual novel-mystery-type games (like Ace Attorney), both Dangan Ronpa games are pretty great (especially the second one, but definitely play the first one first because huge spoilers). They're the main reason I got a Vita.

Tearaway is also pretty great, it's a fun platformer that really takes advantage of the Vita's features with a pretty papercraft style :D
