Collection Catalogging

Post by kerr9000 » Wed Nov 19, 2014 7:27 pm

Has anyone made any real attempt to catalogue any of there collection?

I have always meant to get around to doing this but its a big job for me... So far I have managed to make a database of all of my PSP games ..basically a list of what I have and then added info like if it has its proper case, manual and if it is a platinum version or original etc.

Thought it would be interesting to see if anyone else has attempted this or is considering it.

I used to do this sort of thing from time to time, but these days, i find it almost impossible to keep track of what i've actually got sadly (especially since i started trading in my old DS/Wii/360/PS3 games).

Ive stopped trading in old games almost altogether. In fact I just don't really trade anymore. The only exception to this is when I buy cheap games from facebook sales sites or markets or pawn stores that I don't even want purely because there ridiculously cheap and I can get 3 or more times of my investment back from them.

My most recent example I brought Sniper V3 from facebook for 5quid and got grainger to give me 19quid in store credit for it, by using there promise that they will beat whatever CEX offer (CEX offerd 18).

I have a page on one of my blogs with my game collection all listed by console/handheld lol. My collection isn't massive so I didn't have much trouble doing it. I was re-organising my consoles and whatnot ages ago and had them all out to clean up the cases and set things up so I had better access to them, and while I was at it I made a note of all my games and stuck them in a spreadsheet, which I just C&P'd onto my site :P. Haven't bothered with stuff like boxed/unboxed etc, but have mentioned some special editions here and there (only own like, 2, both of which I bought last year).

Maybe just try and do a list of games for 1 console at a time, with like... a month in between :P.

I only count up how many games I have for each console but haven't written up what games I have. would take a while.

I did this once but I never kept it up to date. If I ever started it up again I'd have a hefty job on my hands to make sure everything listed is still there while adding all the new ones. Who knows, maybe someday.

I used to use playfire years ago when I was into collecting but one day they redesigned the site and it became completely useless for listing systems because they took away the option to list games by system and it also listed all the games I had played on my 360 (even ones I no longer owned).
