The CTRL-V Game

Post by Jedd » Sun Jan 17, 2016 4:47 pm

I'm not sure if this is okay to put here (it might be too simple), but here goes.

So I saw this on old forums I used to go on. Basically you post what's on your clipboard using ctrl-v. It's that simple. I'll start:

By clipboard I mean you can copy and paste things as you wish with a right click or CtrlC / CtrlV. I have a Chromebook.

"Okay class, time's up," said Mr Day, looking up from over his newspaper. "Hand up your essays."
There was a shuffling of chairs as the sixth class students handed up their essays. It was part of their English test - the last English test they'd ever do at that school. Most were relieved to have it finished. Many of them hated writing and those that didn't found the essay title they had been given so dull and predictable. "Write about what you did for your Christmas holidays". But not Harvest. Harvest could have gone on writing forever. There were never enough words to describe what his brother had meant to him. And he cherished every moment he spent writing, thinking of Kody, keeping his memory close to him. It was with much reluctance that he put his essay on top of the rest of the class', on the teachers desk.
Mr Day smiled up at him. "Don't look so glum. I'm sure you did well ... You always do."
Harvest nodded and went back to his seat silently. What was Mr Day thinking, giving them an essay like that? When he knew what had happened to Kody at Christmastime. True, the test was the same in all the classes but still ... Harvest felt sick. He wanted to go home. He didn't want to just sit there, acting like he hasn't just spilled his heart out on paper. He wanted his brother back. But here he was, watching the clock tick as he waited for class to finish. They were now watching a movie, their "reward" for doing the test. It was about a group of boys who go camping by train tracks ... One of Harvests favourite movies. He must have seen it at least a million times. But today he couldn't focus on it. He was too busy thinking about what he had written. He hoped no one noticed that his eyes were beginning to tear up again. He clenched his fists and started rocking back and forth ever so slightly in his chair, to calm himself down. Thankfully everyone was too busy laughing at the movie's pie-eating contest to pay too much attention to him.
At last the bell sounded, bringing the school day to a close. As Harvest followed the rest of the class out the door, Mr Day called him back.
"Harvest, can you hang back for a moment?"
Harvest stood there awkwardly cwhile the rest of the class left. Once they had gone, Mr D smiled.
"Take a seat ... I've read your essay. It's very well-written."
"You read it?!" Harvest said. "You're not supposed to read it! It's my entrance exam ... The secondary school teacher reads it!!"
"It's okay," Mr D smiled. "It's good you shared this with me."
"But I didn't! I didn't want you to read it!!"
"You've got a gift Harvest. You're a much better writer than most kids your age. It's what they call " confessionalist writing ". It's very well done."
"Thanks I guess," Harvest said awkwardly.
"You've been through a lot of pain lately," Mr D said. "And you describe it eloquently. I really do admire your writing skills. You will go a long way, I'm sure of it."
"But I ... I only wrote this because my brother's dead! That's not good writing ... It's just telling the truth!"
"Sometimes that's all it takes," Mr D said, with a twinkle in his eye. "I'm going to miss you when you're gone. You're one of the brightest pupils I've ever had."
"I'm not gone yet. I still have one more week of class!"
"Not long enough," Mr D said with a soft smile.
