Legends tell of an old soul. The Timuten tribes of the Arctic circle call it "Kutu kutu", the seafaring gypsies of Madagascar term him "Ny Voalohany Ombiasy", while the ancient Bonpo shamans revered him as "Guru Padmasambhava" and the less-than-official Nintendo forums of the late 2000s know it only as "AlterntiveAntagonist". The superior sentient beings that surround our known universe may be the only ones to understand the singularity in the variances. Myths passed down in literal Chinese whispers name the Old Soul as the first self-aware consciousness to transcend matter, energy and being, however it originated with these stories that these whispers suffer the cost of their current reputation. The truth is not a Chinese whisper, nor a Tibetan tradition. The fiercest and most wise of the old souls is not self-aware, nor a king, queen, ruler or revered character. In 363BC, the beginnings of Creole tradition were still flourishing, in- as so far as history speaks- silence. History does not tell of the man who that day rerouted an entire small army, a single man with no purpose on the battlefield and no motive in the war; unexpected, unwarranted, unpredictable, unstoppable. Unknown to both sides, yet lethal to one and unasked for by the other. But, dear reader, I know of another name. A name fitting for the amorphous, pale magenta, stealth-savvy alien.
Ender of Wars. Confounder of Rationalists. The Jabberducky's Tamer. The True Quiz of the Forum Games.

1480AD. Civil war breaks out in what will eventually come to be known as 'Louisiana'. Stretching deltas and prairie land belie the feeling of claustrophobia felt by the two rival clans. In the centre of the empty space, the leaders of two of the region's largest rogue clans meet, to discuss the terms of war. The conversation began to heat up.
"This land isn't big enough for the both of us, Redcloud."
"You are wrong."

Therein lied the conflict. A watcher stood in the middle of the river, seemingly motionless despite the rushing water which reached his thighs; the centre of the river should have been deepest and it was unclear as to how he'd managed to get there. A single arrow whirled from his direction, striking Redcloud in the temple. The blow sent the more pugnacious of the clan leaders tumbling to the ground almost 4 feet to his left. The frontliners of Redcloud's clan stood 30 or so metres behind their previous leader. But from their point of view, it was only visible that blood was shed, without knowing who did the shedding.
"They killed him! Attack!" cried the most enraged out of the bewildered front-line. Snapping harshly into the reality of war, the young men around him began to charge. It was only near the encampment where a clan witch doctor discussed with his apprentice something resembling the truth of the situation.
"It's here." said the primal mage.
"???" pondered the apprentice.
The witch doctor looked out, half a mile away, to the river that this delta belonged to. Sure enough, a solitary figure stood true, gazing back. Immediately, the witch doctor barked a clear order to her apprentice,
"Tell them to retreat. This area, day or event is plagued by ill omen."
"The battle has starte--"
"Take Haste and run! Find Oceancloud, the man with the warhorn. Tell him to sound the retreat at once."

The apprentice turned and mounted the horse named Haste. He rode to where the frontliners stood, the area now filling with more and more troops from behind the encampment. He sounded a horn of his own. A man of blue warpaint and a large crown of feathers approached him, atop an equally adorned horse. The strategist of the fight, Oceancloud.
The apprentice looked at Oceancloud, pointing wildly at the front line with urgency, where a battle had already commenced. Arrows flew like the blood they drew from their victims, and all around, circling horse riders ploughed into each other. The numbers on both sides appeared equal, and warcries sounded out from every direction. The apprentice pointed to the front line skirmish of 30 or so men,
"Soun--"
A 'thwup' audibly cut through the air.
Oceancloud, a wisened-looking, hardened yet gaunt middle aged man, glared piercingly as the apprentice dropped from Haste, dropped from behind by an arrow not usually found in these parts. As he watched the young boy fall, he looked up to where the arrow had come from, seeing a caped figure in the middle of a river. Folklore had never been accurate, easily bent and broken, or at least that was viewpoint Oceancloud once held. Now, things were different, stories that had kept him awake at night as a child now rushed to the forefront of his mind, clashing with his sense of reasoning like the proximate skirmish.
It was not any clear instruction which drove him to sound the retreat that day, but merely a childlike fear as his mind regressed in an instant back to those 'bogeyman' tales that his elders still told. Forces of nature have no bias, no side to take, nor inclination of reasoning or morality. They are merely facets of equilibrium, wisps of chaos which occasionally string together to form more profound wisps of chaos. The same witch doctor who once taught this child, fallen from his horse, coughing blood up in an arrhythmic fashion, had told him that 'as the wind carves the world and the waters carve the land, life is carved by omens of nature'.
The selfsame witch doctor tore at his hair, hearing voices in his head, loudly resonating from the river. Voices no mortal should hear, but few will.

"Live. Live and tell the stories that your warriors will not listen to. Heed the day you were visited by Ay-Ay, Consort of the Animelands, Lord of the Mememen, Manifestation of Chaos."
The last few words began to sound as if they were taking visceral form, sounding as if the being saying them was drawing closer and closer, bringing more and more pain as the doctor hastily prepared incense and herbs, but not before it was too much pain for her to bear. By the time the migraines had finished, a bruised, retreating force were surrounding the teepee on their way back towards the general direction of the encampment. For whatever reason, the battle had ended. It is unclear as to why retreat was begotten on both sides, though like many parts of history, only half is told, and the rest to be assumed.

When I was young
It seemed that life was so wonderful
A miracle
Oh, it was beautiful, magical
And all the birds in the trees
They like to sing so happily
So joyfully
Oh, playfully watching me

Love, peace and unity
Siberia the place to be
The K the L the F and anthology
Hallelujah
