Die Hard is an action film though, and just because it's set at Christmas doesn't make it a Christmas film. A real Christmas film has to be warm and cuddly like Home Alone, which Die Hard certainly isn't.
This is like Serendipity. While we here consider it a Christmas film, people in America don't despite it being set around Christmas and the same with Die Hard. It all depends on how you see it. For example, the first Lethal Weapon film is set at Christmas so technically that is a Christmas film. I don't see it that way myself but neither opinion is wrong. It's how you see it really. Most important thing is how awesome the film is and Lethal Weapon series is one of my favourites :D
I really do need to see Elf, It's a wonderful life, Die Hard and Arthur Christmas too. Not seen any of these- Shocking isn't it? I've only just seen the Bear and Father Christmas by Raymond Briggs as well. Oh dear....

Not at all, and Die Hard does have all the messages of other Christmas films, just not in a conventional sense.

My dad's favourite Christmas film is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, which I must say is indeed very Christmassy.

As for Elf, I think it's pretty over-rated to be honest, it's not terrible or anything but it's over-hyped.

Oddly for me a lot of films to watch at Christmas don't have anything to do with Christmas. XD Oh sure, there's Home Alone, Jingle All The Way ( ) etc but much higher on my must-watch list are movies like Hook, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang etc.

It gets to me too, I cry every time, though I've watched it hundreds of times.

Saw Die-Hard today again. What a film. Just superb. Can't think of a better pure action film.

I used to watch Cliffhanger at Christmas, no idea why, i guess all the snow might have had something to do with it.

He's obviously talking about One Hundred and One Dalmatians.

Well, he should be.

Muppets Christmas Carol is great, love that film every single time I watch it! Have it on DVD so at least I'm not tied down to watching it purely when it's on TV, always end up wrapping my Christmas presents to it for some reason though.
