I think the 3DS Mario Party is looking pretty good. As they're saying, it definitely seems quite fast paced and I can imagine it being fun with friends... problem still remains it's easier to play with friends on a console though.
Ever since joining the original ONM I've been a huge Nintendo fan (specifically Zelda) and am looking forward to some great discussions. I was previously known as Lego Master

Re: Nintendo Treehouse - Back at 6pm
As someone who usually dosen't go near RPGs, Ever Oasis is somewhat appealing to me. Maybe it's how you're developing a settlement of sorts or the light puzzle element; thematically interesting environments and charming characters may also be a factor.

But it's the worthy successor to TYD you've been waiting for - an RPG in the truest sense featuring a deep combat system, interesting characters and immersive hub worlds each with their own unique identity and atmosphere.Garf wrote:the only thing people should be waiting to hear about colour splash is that it's been cancelled

They peaked with TYD. Any other Paper Mario game just doesn't have the same feel.

We've only seen traces of that ignorance from what I can recall, so there's still hope. At the same time however, I think early indications warrant such criticism, not only for the game itself but Nintendo as a whole.

Re: Nintendo Treehouse - Back at 6pm
Whilst I agree that I don't think there's much they could have done with the original formula to improve on TTYD, they just make markedly inferior and broken systems afterwards. At this point, they could just make a new game that had no changes to TTYD and it would still be one of the best games on WiiUTsunade wrote:They peaked with TYD. although that's hardly strong praise

That's from my experience. TYD had it all, it was funny, it had really great characters and the bits where you could play as peach and Bowser was genius. In my experience of playing the other games that have come out since, Paper Mario just doesn't have the same feel. Sticker star had potential but they didn't use it. I really don't have much hope for colour splash.

Y'know, I'd they has just said where that symbol actually comes from (which is clearly Isle Delfino) I'd have been a little bit less disgusted with the game.
Edit: why do all the part ers have to be so aggressive it's the same as sheila or whatever her name was from SS.

Re: Nintendo Treehouse - Back at 6pm
I'm personally digging this game, especially how far they've gone with the concept visually and how that feeds into pretty much everything. I'm not at all fussed about the series' heritage when - unlike Sticker Star - this particular experiment/new direction seems to have paid off in the sense that it may deserve praise as a standalone title.
Likeable side-kick too, however pointless he may be.

Re: Nintendo Treehouse - Back at 6pm
We'll see. As a whole though Sticker Star left me feeling a bit eh overall, even when I completed it. I suppose it worked in small chunks which suits handheld but Kersit's reactions to things that are pretty much considered standard in the Mario world seemed out of place. I guess it's down to the fact that the game before it, Super Paper Mario, had deep and complex characters introduced specifically for it and a plot that actually got very interesting as the game came towards it's final stages. Nintendo however doesn't seem to realise that the appeal of the Mario RPGs is part of the original characters that they introduce for them and are now just chruning out the same "Mario must rescue Peach from Bowser" story on itself in an RPG format. Sure, the others did have elements of that, but they often joked about it all. Both Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi had great humour in them and Super Paper Mario in particular had one of the best scripts ever written for a video game (You get a "Game Over" if you say no to being the hero, the intro which makes fun of how Peach always gets kidnapped, everything in Fort Francis).
Maybe Colour Splash will have it too but it doesn't look like it. Also, the island that it's set on kind of sounds like Prison Island, which could be relatable to any number of things... personally the first thing that came into my mind when hearing that was the Prison Island from the Sonic series.

Re: Nintendo Treehouse - Back at 6pm
Anddd that's a wrap.
I enjoyed Nintendo this year. Treehouse stuff was great as always, the staff there seem really awesome.
Honestly, I don't mind the new format -- with footage and trailers spread over a few days. I watched pretty much the whole thing, no regrets. Seeing half an hour of gameplay is far more informative to me than a 30 second trailer.
Definitely better than last year in terms of titles as well, at least for me. BotW, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Pokémon S&M and Dragon Quest VII all seem like pretty good buys from what I've seen. Didn't have many titles appeal to me on that level last year.

Re: Nintendo Treehouse - Back at 6pm
I liked this interview with the assistant producer of Color Splash about the game. Especially the questions where they asked will it have RPG elements and it basically came across as "We have Mario & Luigi for that"...

Re: Nintendo Treehouse
I just don't understand why they don't want a story and character driven RPG in the Paper Mario world anymore. Fair enough they tried something different with Sticker Star (which if I recall sold reasonably well) but the reviews weren't exactly glowing and then they make Sticker Star 2.0? Don't they understand people want a return to a TTYD door style Paper Mario RPG?

Sure I heard it called something like Zelda Scrolls 6 Hyrim in one of GameXplains videos as well.

Watching that trailer again in fullscreen gives me tingles. It's just a shame us Wii U owners have to wait until March, not because the game needs more time in development, but because of the NX.

If someone could tell me where this is supposed to be I'd appreciate it. I can't find it anywhere and it's meant to have started 10 minutes ago.Ape wrote:They've got a Pokemon Special on today at 3 if anyone's interested.
EDIT: Never mind. According to Serebii it was Japan-only and didn't reveal anything new anyway.
