Genuinely think bringing back double Items has thrown the balance out of whack with this game. Losing enjoyment playing Online pretty quickly T_T At least issue some kind of patch to iron out the balancing more.

Had one moment where my banana was stolen by a Boo before I could use it to defend myself from an incoming shell. Only then to get triple mushrooms and yes you guessed it stolen again by a Boo before I could use it, ghadammit. I think I just have bad item luck.

I think the opposite tbh, or at least when you're up towards the top. That said, I've struggled to escape the midpack once you get stuck down there, as you can get hit by a huge amount of items down there although that could just be being unlucky. However, when you're out in front its definitely easier to protect that lead now. If you get the double item box, one is usually a coin but the other one is always something to protect yourself with now which removes the annoyance of getting coins a fair bit.

I think it both makes it easier to defend and easier to attack first place, which is good both ways. It gives you more to do in first place to keep your lead, and gives those stuck behind more of a chance to catch up.

In other news, Gold Mario and Gold Kart acquired. Gold wheels seem like they are a long way off at 10,000 coins required - I have 2500.

The Boo item is a pain in the backside on any difficulty, you can almost guarantee it nicks your super horn or any item if you're in first place.

Boo pales in comparison to the dreaded lightning

So fun story from the weekend. I was about to 3 star a mirror mode grand prix, in first place on the final race and on the final lap. I had a horn equipped so felt pretty safe, considering you can stop even blue shells with it.

So of course I got lightning'd. Spin out, made small, lose coins, and my horn is gone.

Then I got blue shelled.

Overtaken and came second.

Perfected all of the first four difficulties now, and tackling 200cc. Boy has the difficulty gone up. Nearly every time now, it gets to the last corner of the last race, when a shell/lightning avalanche hits me and I slip to second.

Did you know: If you started on 150cc the 100cc and 50cc trophies/stars would get given automatically

I'm having more problems now as well...going to be a lot of attempts before i crack 200cc i reckon!

No! I have done all 50 and 100 as well, still on 150 at the moment

I did all of 50cc before then doing a 150cc grand prix and realising it back-fills. I felt a fool

I always find it's just habit that makes me do 50, 100, 150, mirror (and now 200) cc, just feels right! Sure it takes more time but considering you're almost guaranteed 3 stars on 50 and 100 cc at the first attempt (if you've had a bit of practice with the game anyway) then it doesn't add too much more time. I only found it was from 150cc onward where getting 3 stars required a little luck as well (luck as in the CPU not bombarding you with attacks on the last lap).

Just finished beating all the 200cc time trials and it gave me nothing. Not even a "you did it" message. Was that really too much to ask for? Whatever. Just need that gold glider now for 100%

Is that the 10,000 coins one?

Because that's the dumbest amount. I've 3 starred every grand prix yet I'm at like 3500 coins, I've run out of things to do (outside of time trials which eh) and I'm not even half way to the total.

I'm on about that many coins as well. It was 10,000 on wii u (which I agree is the dumbest amount), but apparently it got dropped to 5,000 for deluxe.

I think GameXplain made a video on techniques to build up coins, might be worth a watch if you want the glider.

But using the Renegade Roundup technique is boring when you can just race on 150cc with items set to bob-ombs only.
Takes longer, but at least its not repetitive.

Tried online for the first time. I was leading the entire race and had a huuuge lead, coming up to the finish line. I block a red shell, only to get hit by a blue shell, lightning bolt, and then 4 red shells. Came 3rd. Good.

Can you go online to get some?

I think coins collected online count. OR should race me to make some dank bank.

Coins collected anywhere count. Probably the fastest method is renegade roundup on the dragon course. You can get 480 coins every 30 minutes, but that's no fun. I'll just play multiplayer/online till I get there.

Think I've got more than 6000. Won't be long before I get to 10,000, and possibly even hit 15,000 before the time played on WiiU.

So I was thinking how Mario Party is getting a top one hundred game, basically bringing a whole lot of stuff from previous games into a singular package, and then how a similar concept might work out for Mario Kart as well. I doubt it'd ever happen any time soon, but there's enough tracks to choose from for such a thing to work. Eighty race tracks, twelve battle tracks, and eight of the DLC tracks.
Now... Would you buy it on Switch if it were to come [in a few years time, of course]?
