I hope there is a fun F-Zero inspired track that's part of this DLC.

Am a big fan of the old F-Zero games but feel a little sad that the last F-Zero title was on Gamecube. Seeing as Mario Kart 8 takes lot of inspiration from that series, bar the speed, it would be good to re-visit that game again with Mario and Co.

Really like this series. As it happens, when I get Mario Kart DS again in a few days, I will be in ownership of every retailed version of the game. Mario Kart 8 is great. I was a bit disappointed with Mario Kart 7 because it didn't seem to offer anything special, but MK8 is a step up and seems like an overall refinement. And of course the DLC looks awesome.

But my favourite version of the game has to be Mario Kart DS because of how far you could take snaking, as well as being an awesome game generally.

I think they showed a screenshot of a Mute City inspired track when the DLCs were revealed. Looks like it's in the MK8 x Zelda pack.

DS was the best one, because of the popularity of the DS. Some good memories of it. Wii one is tripe.

Looking forward to the first DLC. Is there an actual date yet beyond just "November"?

The excite bike track looks pretty sweet, can't wait to play that one, and looking forward to seeing what other tracks we get, both old and new.

I heard Wario's Gold Mine is one of the retro tracks in the DLC. Which is a shame, because it's the worst Wii course.

Really like Mario Kart, wasn't that big of a fan of 7 but 8 is fantastic.

Official Mario Kart Tierlist by Adam

Double Dash > 8 > DS > 7 > Wii > 64 > Super Circuit > SNES

please don't hurt me

you're wrong.

wii one is definitely last. SNES one is a classic, needs to be higher.

I agree Wii could drop behind 64 but it's better than SNES. Super Circuit isn't fun to play at all.

Koopa Cape is the one MK Wii track I would absolutely love to be in the DLC. My fav track from that game. Wish we'd get some actual battle stages too :(.

As far as the series goes, in order of best to worst:

Mario Kart 8 > Mario Kart DS > Super Mario Kart > Double Dash > Mario Kart Wii > Mario Kart 64

Haven't played Super Circuit (though I might try and pick it up if I can find it cheap), and don't have a 3DS yet so haven't been able to play MK 7, though I would like to regardless of what some people think to it.

8 > Double Dash > 7 > Super Mario Kart > Wii > Super Circuit > DS > 64

I enjoy all of them to a certain extent though. I might try and get a tournament going on here at some point.

no I would win

Bit surprised how low 64 is on some lists, thought people liked that one a lot more than the SNES game.

I never really got into the N64 version tbh. My least favourite for sure, though it still isn't a bad game by any means. Super Mario Kart holds a special place since it was the first one and I was brought up on it. So many fun times on the battle mode with my brother. Still like to pop in the cart today and have a play around on it.

The 64 version is ruined by the rubber banding AI and some ridiculously bland/long courses.

Yeah. Rainbow Road is the biggest problem with 64. I know people love it for nostalgia value, but it just seems a bit dull compared to other Rainbow Roads in the series...even Super Circuit's.

I shouldn't get excited over such a small resolution screenshot but am jumping up and down with joy at the moment. Have been wanting a new F-Zero for a very long time, sure this isn't a replacement for that but will be lots of fun regardless.

I had a horrible time playing Super Mario Kart on the Wii Virtual console, i found it incredibly hard to control using the tiny classic controller and simply not that fun at all. When it was released on the Wii U virtual console however I had lots of fun and found it pretty easy to control using the gamepad's d-pad.

Are there any differences between the Wii and Wii U virtual console verions? It's strange how different an experience I had playing it again.

N64 was the game that introduced me to the series and so most my opinion on that game is effected by nostalgia. Double Dash also holds a special place in my heart as i spent many weekends playing multiplayer on it with friends. Talking about quality alone Mario Kart 8 is the best of the series, it has great track designs, music, visuals, takes all what we like about the series and gets rid of some of the bug bares. It also controls incredibly well, makes it hard to go back and play the older games now!

Unfortunately no more detailed date yet :( Guessing mid November so not to clash with Smash?

I loved Mario kart DS as it had missions loved doing those missions as I felt it made the game feel longer but I think my favourite Mario kart is between 7 & 8 can't quite decide but with the new DLC 8 may just top it for me.

What I loved about Mario Kart DS was how you could deliberately sit in 4th place, not too far behind the pack, on most tracks and spam triple mushrooms into the lead at the very end.
Needless to say I won a lot of races; And probably caused a few people to break their DS.
Fun times. :D

I want to get a Wii U just for MK8, though I dont have the money to do so as I bought a PS4 this year :c. The DLC looks really good as well :c

My first Mario Kart was the GBA game, which I loved just for the number of tracks there were. I think I've played MK7 by far the most, the DS version not far behind, but I guess the best has to be MK8.
