what are the local multiplayer options?
Not sure for Salmon Run. For regular splatooning, you can play wireless or LAN with multiple switches. Pretty sure it's one player per switch. There is no map rotation - you can pick whatever you want to play in local multiplayer. I don't know if there are bots, I doubt it.

Anyone else trying the Splatfest?

I've had a few games - alright so far - more Splatoon is always good. Started off slow but after adjusting the control sensitivity and warming up a little I'm getting quite into it.

Oh yeah. Go team Ice Cream!

I was veering towards not buying this game (many failures had me convinced it wouldn't be worth it for me) until a moment in Moray towers where I leapt off an ink rail and splatted a guy midair.

I'm sold now. That was too fun.

Anyone else had problems with connection. Was ok early on but after about 7.30 I got a couple of connection unstable before it went off. Also a couple of times where was wait ages for opponents and then it went on about losing connection with opponent. Hope this is just teething problems cos loved the game when able to play proper.

Was going to be getting this game when it comes out, and while the Splatfest showed a bit how far behind most regular Splatoon players I am I still really enjoyed it, although pressing B to jump will still take some getting used to.

As much as I enjoyed my time playing, and as much as I've enjoyed the Splat Dualies, I'll be waiting a while before buying, just because I know others games will be taking my time.

I jumped a roller doing this.

Forgot how much I missed Splatoon.

What was the score? I seemed to have quite a few matches for team ice cream against team ice cream. Just seemed to get a lot of problems with connection later on, which was disappointing. Roll on Friday.

America and Europe shared the theme, so obviously shared the results.
A quick look on Nintendo World Report shows it was very much in ice cream's favour.
Ice Cream - 76/24 - Cake -- Popularity
Ice Cream - 51/49 - Cake -- Solo
Ice Cream - 47/53 - Cake -- Team

So yeah. Ice cream was victorious.

Played about an hour of the splatfest last night and I had a really fun time with it, got into a match very quick with no connection issues at all. The new maps are ace especially the Tower map, the music is also still very catchy.

I was out Saturday evening so missed the entire chance to play - but I did manage to wander around the plaza when I downloaded it before the splatfest started I guess? So at least I got to join #teamcake.

Cake got better results when you combine solo and team, it was only the popular vote that swung it.

So when you post a drawing in game, does it only appear in-game if you also send it to twitter/facebook? I could only get that option.

I'm still struggling to remember that X isn't jump anymore. Overall I had fun in the Splatfest, though. I did okay with the Splattershot and the roller but I got slaughtered with the Splat Dualies.

I tried to play the first game the other night to try to get the Legendary Cap before the new game comes, and I don't know if it's just because I'm out of practice or I was playing at the wrong time, or if it was the wrong modes or arenas, or a combination of those, but I was absolutely crushed in every game. Seriously I got nowhere. I think I may be done with the first game...

Mine also arrived. Looking forward to playing it this evening, especially since somehow I've avoided all news about the content of the game

Edit: pretty good first couple of matches for me, even if I lost the very first one. The game looks great, and I feel there's gonna be lots of small hidden things to find, as I discovered that when you move the analog stick or press buttons during matchmaking, it changes the pitch of the background music!

Probably not getting mine for a little while, since I pre-ordered late. Hopefully in time to catch the Splatfest, though. Maybe this one will be a little more evenly divided.
