Nintendo E3 2017 - Spotlight, Treehouse, Splatoon 2

Post by OrangeRakoon » Tue Jun 13, 2017 8:59 am

Nintendo’s E3 activities kick off on Tuesday 13th June at 17:00 BST with its Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017 video presentation. Available to view in local languages live at Nintendo of Europe’s E3 2017 website, this presentation will offer more details about Super Mario Odyssey and other Nintendo Switch games, with a focus on games launching this year.

Immediately following Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017, Nintendo is once again bringing back Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3, a livestreamed showcase of upcoming games for Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Gameplay for all the featured games will be streamed from the E3 show floor from 13th to 15th June via Nintendo’s Twitch channels, with a chatroom available in viewers’ local language. In addition to gameplay, the livestream will include behind-the-scenes info and commentary from game developers and members of the Nintendo Treehouse.
On Tuesday 13th June, four of the world’s best Splatoon teams will battle it out in the 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational.

Head to Nintendo of Europe’s E3 2017 website from approximately 22:30 UK time tomorrow to watch the whole tournament live! It will also be broadcasted on our official YouTube and Twitch channels.

So who's excited? What do you expect to see, and what would you love to be surprised by?

E3 has already been good for Nintendo with Bethesda confirming Skyrim for Switch and Ubisoft opening their show with Miyamoto himself coming on stage to help announce Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Check them out if you haven't already:

i mean there isnt going to be a pokemon game shown so im not sure what more i want now. we got our monster hunter on it (even tho its just a upgraded version of XX and theres suggestions that monster hunter world is not MH5 which might still appear on a ninty system), mario x-com which looks fun even though im changing to all mario characters on it ASAP and some other nice things. people want metroid but i wont be hurt again. i guess it all comes down to how far away these games are

I love Skyrim so that's probably an instant buy for me. Mario/Rabbids looks very good actually, better than I thought from the initial leaks, need to get round to watching the gameplay for it though before I decide to get it or not, definitely leaning towards a yes currently though.

Nintendo wise I'd really like to see Animal Crossing Switch, the console just seems perfect for it. I've learnt not to expect much from Nintendo though, purely so I'm pleasantly surprised by anything that does get announced though! Also Nintendo probably won't show much off that won't be out by next E3, maybe even the end of the financial year so it kind of limits things. One thing that surely has to be shown is Retro's new game, they've been working on it for 4 years (probably more) now, even Nintendo must be ready to show it off.

As for what I'd love to be surprised by? More of those great Ubisoft games being Switch bound, I think Skull and Bones looks fantastic, taking the best bit of AC 4 and making it into its own fully fledged game. Beyond Good and Evil 2 also looks very interesting from the initial trailer, I never played BGE1 but I'm under the impression it was good. Assassins Creed Origins coming to the Switch would also be pretty good, I'd happily give up AC Origins if it meant getting Skull & Bones and BGE2 on the Switch.

I'm prepared for none of the above (Ubisoft wise) to come to Switch though, would be amazing if it did.

It was terrific to see Mario + Rabbids showcased at the Ubisoft presentation... and for it to look surprisingly good! That was a great start for Nintendo but I am a wee bit apprehensive about their own show at 17:00.

I really want them to astound us with a string of big-name titles but I fear we'll "only" see ARMS, Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyysey. It feels like it's time for Nintendo to step up a bit. Will Xenoblade Chronicles 2 make it for 2017? I would love to see Meroid Prime 4 and Animal Crossing arrive for the Switch!

To be honest I'd be surprised if we see ARMS or Splatoon 2, as I feel they used the earlier direct about them to get those out the way to leave time for more longer term games this time around.

I reckon we'll see Zelda DLC info, as it'll be interesting to see what's going on with that. I'm hoping for some Animal Crossing news personally, and it'd be great to see some Metroid news too. Also holding out for a new IP as I've been enjoying a lot of Nintendo's new IP recently

As I've posted before, I'd be disappointed if there was a strong focus on ARMS and Splatoon 2 in the 30 minute direct, they've had enough airtime recently already.

I get the feeling that Nintendo will probably still detail Mario and Rabbids along with Skyrim in their conference for the simple reason because of both featuring their IPs in some way (although it'll probably be a minute each). Mario Odyssey should get a decent amount of showtime, maybe get another trailer for Xenoblade 2 and hopefully Retro's new game, be it Metroid Prime 4, Donkey Kong Country 6 or something entirely different.

Animal Crossing. If I can just have that to look forward to I'll give them a pass - I probably shouldn't cause Nintendo really should do more, especially at E3 but I'm not immune from their charms.

Can't wait for no Metroid.

Anything that makes me want to buy a switch would be a good start. I was going to get one for XX if that comes to the West, but with World on PC that's not going to happen.

Less than 15 minutes now - looking forward to this. Can't wait to see more of Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - and any surprises. Not expecting to see a lot that we don't know of, but one big surprise such as Metroid would be nice.

I'm hoping for an announcement for Animal Crossing Switch and a new Metroid.
Given that it's only games coming this year, I won't be holding my breath though.

The main game I'm looking forward to seeing now is Mario Odyssey, hopefully we'll see lots of gameplay at the Treehouse thing after the spotlight.

It says with a 'focus' on games coming out this year, so I'm expecting 1 or 2 surprises for next year.

We got Metroid, but no Animal Crossing.

Still, really good, the Switch is shaping up to be the best Nintendo console in ages, Mario Odyssey looks insane!
Also, a real Pokemon RPG is coming to the Switch, good luck finding a Switch in the shops again for another decade :-)

Edit: THE 3DS GETS A METROID GAME AS WELL!
REAL PROPER 2D METROID!
It's a re-imagination of Metroid 2, I can't wait!

Some big announcements there. Interesting they just teased the existence of some games rather than show anything off, but will satisfy the fans of the series enough surely. Going all in with the games for the Switch now, just a few of Nintendo's main franchises without a confirmed game

Looks like I will be buying a Switch after all.

Pretty surprised Nintendo are bringing back a franchise that hasn't had a release in 10 years.

Metroid Prime 4 and Metroid Samus Returns both confirmed.

The latter is apparently a reimagining of Metroid II. Hmmm...
