Who else is going to be getting some?

Looking forward to more details tbh, but did see this:

Looks like Yoshi will be the one to get!

I'd definitely love to have some of them. Especially the Yoshi and the Pikachu ones. Even if they don't get used all that much in the games they'd be awesome to have on my desk.

I'll have to find a way to justify the £10 price tag per figure though.

I'll probably get one or two just for the sake of it. If they are well implemented into future games then I may get more. I'll probably be boring and get Samus and Link to start with, they'll probably be my main two characters i play as in Smash.

Apparently, due to the fact they've been mass-produced, they look like utter crap. No way near the quality shown when they were first revealed.

GameXplain showed off a few of them recently. Looks like a mixed bag.

I was gonna get a Yoshi and luckily he still looks pretty decent. Not sure I'll bother getting more than one though.

Hmm..some look very good (Yoshi included), but some really aren't very special (Pikachu!)

The human ones in particular look bad. I'm tempted for the collector side of things. I NEED ALL THE THINGS.

But their functionality is pretty lacking. Smash bros is a nice touch but I don't see them bringing much to the announced games they work in and only having select amiibos work in select games can make certain amiibos useless except for smash and maybe 1 other game.

While the idea of getting all of them for a great collection (when they were announced I was tempted to get a cabinet to display them all in, in their boxes obviously and then get a couple to actually use) but I'm deciding not to get them all, because there will be a lot of them so they won't fit into a cabinet and they aren't exactly cheap if you get them all. If in the future Nintendo decide to release a huge bundle with them all in for a slightly discounted price I'd probably go for them but as it stands I'll just get a couple to use.

Still not fully convinced on the uses of Amiibos yet. I'll just wait a while and see what Nintendo do with them in future games before I get one.

Probably just going to pick myself up a Dark Pit and Duck Hunt duo Amiibo myself, but that's about it.

I also don't understand why some of them are being limited to an unknown number run. Fair enough some won't be as popular as others but limiting them seems a bit pointless as you never know if/when a game for that particular character may be released so the Amiibo could see a potential boost in sales due to the new game.

Watching that video, all of the human character ones look terrible. The Yoshi one looks the best, and I may get it if the uses of them seem worth it, but they'd have to be better than what they seem to be so far. I'd go into a store to check it out before buying it though, rather than ordering it over the internet, in case they look terrible.

Already planning to get Peach and Marth. Despite the flaws, they're my two mains in Smash. Can't resist just to have them.

I must admit the Peach Amiibo does look a bit weird but I'll probably end up getting them all eventually get a few for birthdays & Christmas etc.

They're what? Where did you hear this? Any why would they do such a thing, has it been said which ones are going to be limited?

I just saw it somewhere a little while ago, I will try and find it again. If it's true I've no idea what characters would be limited though.

Here you go, didn't take long to find, I've no idea how credible the reported information is but it's supposedly from Iwata himself in the shareholders meeting.

Villager, Link and Luigi are my picks.

Makes sense some of them will be limited. Amiibo like Marth will only be used in SSB and nothing else so will be rotated out for more core characters that'll cover a wider variety of games.

Don't get me started on Marth's bendy sword. Will get Little Mac and Captain Falcon, along with the Mario amigo special edition bundle. Will also pick up Ike and Duck Hunt Dog when they're released. Basically going for the little known characters, as they never get any merch. Amiibo functionality, as it is, isn't setting the world alight or anything, though

The quality drop is unsurprising but depressing at the same time. I honestly don't see any need to own some of these -- I'd actually rather not have these on my shelf given how low quality they are -- but Iwata's comments do lend light to Nintendo possibly making higher quality, pricier versions.

The non-human figures look like they will be alright, though, due to their simpler shapes. Yoshi has a new seam by his arm I noticed.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014- ... bo-designs

Eurogamer have done an article on the final designs, showing some of them side by side with the original designs. It's a shame about some of the poses they've put the characters in, as the extra supports they've had to put in look awful. Especially with Wii Fit Trainer, the chunk of plastic around the leg looks pretty horrible.

Seems a bit of a mixed bag really, some are looking really good but then others have been poorly designed and made and have ended up looking a bit cheap really. Some of the worst ones wouldn't look out of place on a market stall on holiday.

Since Amazon are selling them for £10 you can't really complain all that much about quality of the figures however if they were like £18+ then you might have a point
