So after a few hours playing on my Switch it's safe to say I'm really enjoying it, feels great in hand and being able to play Splatoon 2 away from your TV is great. Only had chance to play the first couple of levels of Shovel Knight (which is decent as always). Will probably load Zelda up later, buy the DLC pack and jump back into Hyrule.

Just out of interest has anyone else mainly used their Switch as a handheld? I have to the extent where the dock is still sat in the box....

I primarily play it as a handheld. Just more convenient for me since I usually play before bed.

I've found it while I've been cooking as well, when a recipe says leave to simmer for 20 mins (for example) that's perfect for 1 or 2 levels in Splatoon 2, a couple of shrines in Zelda or a level in Shovel Knight (depending on the level of course, some of them take a lot longer than others).

Can't even complain about the battery too much, I've not timed it but it's certainly lasted longer than I thought playing Splatoon 2.

my aunt got a switch recently, played 1,2,switch on it with my brother and it was a good meme, some of the games were just really terribly controlled like the shaver one which just wouldn't calibrate, but the boxing was was ace I gooseberry fool demolished my brother which was a great meme because I could never demolish someone irl in a boxing match let's be real.

my arm was hurting for like 3 days after that what a mistake I am too unfit.

I'll probably pick up a switch sometime cause I want to play PPT, Mk8, and Xenoblade.

I haven't played docked since the first two weeks after release. The dock sits on my bedside table which is where the Switch lives, makes playing games in bed super easy. And I hardly ever have to think about charging the thing.

Might borrow that idea of sitting the dock on my bedside table to act as a charging point, definitely sounds safer than leaving the Switch laying somewhere while charging.

I almost exclusively use it as a home console; the only game I have on it is Zelda which kind of deserves a full TV display imo
Plus I've always prefer home consoles to portable anyway, but I still appreciate the convenience that the Switch provides

I might play Odyssey mostly docked as it's been a while since we've had a proper console Mario game. But generally I don't feel all the need to play on a bigger screen, because the Switch screen is pretty damn great on it's own.

I appreciated being portable when I got to korok forest. One of the performance patches helped that out a lot though

Do you mean the framerate stuff? Did the portability change that at all?

Think for the most part (definitely at launch anyway) it generally performed better in hand held than when docked. No idea if the patches has fully solved it but I doubt its got worse over time. Still not even started Zelda yet, enjoying Splatoon 2 too much.

Yeah, as robbo said it performed better in handheld (well, depending on your TV resolution I think).

Yes I will be, it looks really good and I am a fan of Mario games, another game that I think is looking really good is the new Yoshi game, I watched the video on the Switch that was recorded at e3 and it looks fantastic, my dream game would be a new advance wars
