Christmas 2017

Post by Cruizer » Fri Dec 15, 2017 11:05 pm

Here's seasonal thread that will remain on the front page of off-topic until at least August 2018?

With just over a year until next Christmas I've had my works Christmas meal, when I press "C" on my phone my predictive text assumes I want to say "Christmas" not "critical mass", listened to 1984's Band-Aid and hitting London's Winter Wonderland with my BFF tomorrow - anyone else feeling it yet?

Officially excited now :D x10^6

This year we put all our decorations up on the 1st, it feels like they have been up forever already, I started watching those rubbish TV only Christmas films in October so I am sick of those now, this years adverts are also a disappointment, john lewis normally do something good but this year they have really missed the mark, I haver got plenty of good games to play and I will get some nice things into eat so its not all bad

I love Christmas, I don't tend to put the decorations up or start celebrating too early because it makes it less special. At a period now where I start winding down work wise, watching the Christmas episodes of Peep show, The Office (U.S version obviously), Alan Partridge and getting in the mood.

I'm shopping in Oxford Street and doing some Christmasy things tomorrow.

Don't watch those Channel 5 Christmas films - just stick Die Hard on os

My usual Oxford St routine is HMV, Uniqlo, Disney (occasionally), M&S, & Selfridges food hall.

There's also a souvenir shop between John Lewis and Oxford Circus that i saw recently selling genuine cannabis cookies in plain sight.

Past few years I've felt very un-Christmas-y, guess that's what working in retail does for you!

I mean I still enjoy it when the day comes around but I find it very hard to get in the mood, normally feel it on Christmas Eve when I normally wrap whatever presents I've bought for my parents etc after I've clocked off work for a couple of days, just feels more like a couple lazy days off more than anything now though where you can eat too much and don't feel weird for watching rubbish TV.

Still got one person to buy for though, hopefully won't take too much longer to buy for them though.

I did some Christmas shopping today (buying things for myself and food for me and my partner) and everywhere was really busy, I stopped off at a Burger King to get something to take home and even that was busy and its never busy in there, I don't do my main Christmas food shopping until around the 22nd/23rd and that's a all day event going to various shops across the county

Meh, I thought it was lovely and my friends liked it too.

I bought a really beautiful dish from Palestine, a leather-free wallet made of leaves and some really well crafted little wooden ornaments.

I'm not feeling Christmassy at all, I don't know if it's a mix of being so behind with the presents and feeling low or if it's just because I don't feel like making such a big effort for it this year as it seems to have been forced into my face for the past 3 months with all the adverts for it on tv.

I haven't put up any decorations this year, didn't really feel like it.

Will probably try and make more of an effort next time.

I do however, have a 2018 calendar with guinea pigs on it.

I'm in Christmas Eve in the morning then back boxing day in the morning and as I'm the one cooking Christmas dinner, then cleaning it all up etc all it really is is more work for me... Working new years eve as well , basically I'm not off for anything and consequently wish the whole thing would sod off, it's also a time I'm hyper aware my mum has passed and how much I miss her as she did loads for Christmas, it's just a sucky sucky hard time for me , so I'm looking forward to the week I have off in January.

Same, except our tree went up a couple weeks ago immediately after someone got fired.

I managed to get Thursday and Friday off work and visited some friends on holiday in one of the Canary Island's, which was a lot of pissing about for 2 days, I think this is the first beach break I've ever had building up to the festive holidays - so a nice change.

But I went through London on the way back and Christmas spirit is nicely topped up. :D

I got a SNES everdrive, agents of mayhem for Xbox one, a book on conspiracys, a great blue fluffy jumper a attack on Titan pocket watch and other bits and pieces....

I am on my way to work now and I firmly believe I should be able to choke every sad smeg head who leaves there family and comes to the shop to death for crimes against humanity and then piss on there corpse , unfortunately what I will do is smile on the outside and burn with hate inside instead.

It's just annoying that so many people go shopping on Boxing Day, I worry how many people would actually go shopping in Christmas Day if the retailers decided to open. I just don't get why people go shopping on Boxing Day either, most people will have bought masses of food in the couple of days leading up to Christmas and purely go for the sales shops start to have on Boxing Day, although that many places have sales all throughout the year (at varying times) that getting to the shops for stupid o'clock on Boxing Day really isn't appealing at all and the bargains probably aren't that good.
