But you guys, polar bears live in Alaska so it's infringing on our personal liberties to not let us collect guns! Or something, I dunno this is all clownshoes.

Who lives in a massive field? Or are you "just exaggerating" again, and are suggesting that only those who live in the country should have guns?

I live in rural Surrey, and I know a lot of people who basically live on a farm with acres of land and keep horses as pets. I never said only those who live in the country should have guns, I've just been making the point that people should be able to use guns on their own private property if the space allows for it. Obviously not if they're living in a terraced house in Central London with a few square feet of grass.

But you're taking away my liberty to own a gun! I live in a city, I have the "right" to collect them as a legitimate means of ownership!

I still think the very good point that somebody made earlier of "why do collectors need actual guns" should probably be addressed, if it's the collecting aspect that's important then why does it also have to have the ability to kill?

No, but it's actually a reasonable response. Row started with this with the points that the difficulty in owning a gun was an infringement on his freedom because it's restraining him from doing something/owning something. It was stupid and so warrants a stupid response like "Why can't I own anthrax?"

The arguments used against owning anthrax for research purposes are broadly the same as those against owning guns

that's the point

why do you need a gun? for home safety? no criminal with a brain would try and rob a house while the owner was still in it. even then, the chances of someone robbing your house, not only while you were in it, but also, equipped with a weapon that has a longer range than a big stick, is very very low. like, in my house we have a huge ass baton of solid wood, if anyone tried to rob us they'd have to do much better than a eton mess little knife if they were equipped in the first place (which if your aim is to take expensive things like TVs, PCs, etc, then you don't really have the space to be carrying a weapon on you.)

so yeah, unless someone is trying to rob you while your in, with something like a sword or a gun, then you really don't need a gun for self defense. and what? if you're out and there is a hold up at a bank and you end up as a hostage, what are you gonna do with that eton mess little handgun when there are 5 guys armed with ak-47s watching you?

also if you're carrying it as you're worried that you'll get mugged by a guy with a knife, then why the gooseberry fool are you walking down dark alleys and graveyards just asking for trouble? stick to the streets jeez.

in short, there is almost no point in gun ownership unless you're a serial killer, a terrorist, or just some nutter that wants to shoot up a cinema full of people.

scratch that, I guess if you enjoy going down to a shooting range or hunting then you'd need a handgun or a rifle, but hunting is kinda a northern/canadian sort of thing mostly, so it's mostly just good for hobbyists that enjoy practicing their aim.

It may as well be when you repeatedly post it knowing full well that the person it's aimed at isn't going to respond.

tbh I don't actually know why I bother posting on here, it's all in-jokes, sly personal digs at each other and union flags (aka every other forum in existence).
