I maintain that only the first volume is absolute trash, because it actually has decent writing from the second volume onwardsPiGreat wrote:it's also trash
though the animation had been bad (albeit improved somewhat in between each volume) until volume 4

Re: Animation/Cartoons
Went through Avatar in a binge too last year I think or early this year, since I'd never had the chance to watch it all completely, only ever episodes here and there out of order. The jump to Korra didn't really do much for me to be honest, I don't even know what it is, whether it's the tone shift, the change in setting or the characters, probably a mix of all those things I guess. I don't know, I should probably give it another shot, probably wasn't the best idea to do it straight after TLA.Kriken wrote:Recently binged through Avatar: The Last Airbender, and just finished watching the first season of The Legend of Korra. Really enjoy it so far.

Yeah, I didn't take to Korra quite as well for similar reasons. Started to grow on me, though.JenovaPX wrote:The jump to Korra didn't really do much for me to be honest, I don't even know what it is, whether it's the tone shift, the change in setting or the characters, probably a mix of all those things I guess.
Have slowed down a bit on watching it since I don't find it quite as compelling (and have been watching other stuff), but series 2 is seeming pretty interesting so far. Braced myself for disappointment since the reception to this series seemed a bit worse, but it's okay. Story-wise, fine. The animation is a little worse but it doesn't really bother me.

You'll be better off if you don't mind Spirits, its the worst season outside of the origins story

Cars 3 teaser. Pretty dark surprisingly
Looks like the plot is something along the lines of ''Lightning is old, can't keep up with the current generation of racing''

Say Moana today. I got teary-eyed at several points, easily one of the best Disney films of recent years along with Zootopia. The animation and soundtrack were both top-class.
Thank you.

Re: Animation/Cartoons
so bort recommended ethel and earnest to me to watch yesterday and it was beautiful.
you become so close the pairs lives that you almost forget you're watching an animation. Is amazing how they made so much out of so little just from the storytelling, every moment the pair share just seemed really captivating
the story leading up and through the war felt very down to earth and real, and an ending so heartbreaking it was genuinely beyond even tears
available for the next month on iplayer. wholeheartedly recommend: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... hel-ernest

Re: Animation/Cartoons
I've spent the past hour or so watching the 2013 Mickey Mouse cartoons, and they are incredible. The way it toys with tropes and cartoon physics, I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard at a cartoon.

Re: Animation/Cartoons
It is always something when a cartoon realises that child audiences are actually pretty intelligent with that kind of thing. That episode of Ed, Edd and Eddy comes to mind especially for that kind of thing with the complete destruction of animation law.

Re: Animation/Cartoons
i just got round to watching Kubo and the Two Strings and everyone should DEFINITELY check it out, another crazy effort from studio laika, its crazy how impressive their films look
im constantly having to remind myself that its stop-motion rather than cgi when i watch studio laika films and its just so unbelievably mind blowing to think about how much time and effort really goes into making the movies they create, i just constantly underappreciate the amount of dedication that goes into stop-motion until after ive finished watching
