Thought I'd share sommet I've been working on the past January

Rough test of 'one punch pikmin', a gif animation I'm seriously considering making a full blown short

That's really good! I'd recommend continuing with it, since I think it has the potential to be brilliant.

(Also, what FPS did you use? I'm currently animating something for a college course and I'd like to know what the best frame-rate would be. I've seen 24fps floating around, but I'm not too sure)

hey hey thanks

25 is what I work at and apparently is a common standard for this country but a lot of studios work at 24 as well, its not a massive concern for personal projects though. I know a lot of animators who crank it up to 30+ for some silky smooth results

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info. I'm using 16fps at the moment. However, because I've been using smears more often than I used to, I could easily bump it up to 20fps for smoother movement with little to no issue on the animation's quality. I'm very used to slower framerates like 15-16fps so trying and experimenting with speeds closer to the industry standard is a must for me at this point.

Yeah, anything below 20 and you're gonna feel pretty restricted fluidity wise (especially for quicker movement)

because animators commonly work at similar fps, the pacing of the animation itself should mostly be determined by the spacing of your frames (ones, twos, threes).

I watched this a year ago and I thought it was a pretty incredible and clever piece. Glad I found it again

JonTron's cover of Firework features a lot of animators' work plus the majesticness of JonTron's voice

Thought it was worthy of posting in this thread, just for the fantastic animation alone.

Oh my god that was one the best forty minutes of animation I've ever seen. I cried for a good five minutes at the end.

Stan and Ford going on adventures together
T-REX ARM

they had a good run. they might bring it back but i'm satisfied with that ending

It looks so bland and soulless, it's almost sad. I don't know why the original voice actors are so bread and buttered about not being involved in the reboot. If anything, they dodged a bullet.

EDIT: Sing looks like a pile of eton mess, BTW. I've said before that it seems like an improv comedy sketch haphazardly turned into a film.
