Honestly think the contest is a load of old tosh, this years UK entry is so-so, I won't be watching but good luck to the brothers.

Looks like Armenia have gotten themselves into a spot of bother...
EBU wrote:Official statement on use of Nagorno-Karabakh flag at Eurovision Song Contest:

The EBU and the Reference Group, the governing body of the Eurovision Song Contest, strongly condemn the brandishing of the Nagorno-Karabakh flag in the Green Room during the live transmission of the first Semi Final on 10 May and considers the flag's appearance in the transmission harmful to the Eurovision Song Contest brand.

The Reference Group has decided to sanction Armenian broadcaster, AMPTV, in accordance with the Rules. The nature of the sanction will be determined, at the latest, by the next Reference Group meeting in June.

We are acutely aware of the tense situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and the ongoing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We consider the appearance of a flag of a highly disputed territory in the live transmission a serious breach of Rule 1.2.2h of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest stating that "no messages promoting any organisation, institution, political cause or other, company, brand, products or services shall be allowed in the Shows".

Furthermore, the EBU has imposed a zero-tolerance policy towards the Armenian delegation with regards to breaching the Rules of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, in particular in relation to the aforementioned incident.

The Reference Group wishes to point out that any further breach of the Rules of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest could lead to disqualification from this year's event or any successive editions.

A gooseberry fool of Eastern European countries qualified in the second semi-final, somehow Norway didn't qualify leaving Sweden as the only Scandinavian country. Shame, a few good acts missed out on the final. Belgium deserved it though.

Russia is the favourite by far now.
Thank you.

I was gutted to see Norway get dumped out, especially when Ukraine got through with their crappy effort.

Denmark should have made it to the final too.

Why was Australia even in it again? I though last year was supposed to be a one-off for the 60th anniversary. Although in fairness their song was pretty good, after listening to it again on youtube. Maybe I need to do the same for some of the other entries...

And Joe and Jake deserved a lot better than third-from-bottom. I thought that reversal was really unfair. Still, our first 12 in however many years is an achievement.

Now to watch the semi finals to see if anyone worthwhile got dumped...

Glad that Ukraine beat Australia, as I don't think they should be in it, although that said I felt that Russia had the best show. I did like Ukraine's song though as it was more interesting musically than most of the others.

I don't know how Poland were so popular with the public though, that was a surprise.

I wasn't a fan of the Ukraine song, and i didn't think it was a very good winner. Of the top 3, Russia should have won it as that guy's performance was amazing.

The UK entry didn't do too bad on the jury votes (we were mid table for the most part), it was the phone votes which screwed us over in the end.

Loved the interval act though (love love peace peace), it was delightfully bonkers.

Oh yeah, the interval was great.

It's just a shame because in previous years 62 points would've been a pretty respectable score.

I thought it was great, I am now in love with Måns Zelmerlöw

I don't like the new scoring system, it all seemed to be over too quickly and you don't know which countries voted for other countries

The full details of the results are available online if you're interested.

Interestingly, Australia would have won under the old voting system.

Late to the party but...

Cyprus should have won. Their song was too good. Ukraine's song was lame, and they won.

Dammit Europe.
