NOT THE THING!
I'll post my thoughts on the current book tomorrow but the thing with splitting the team up so much last and this season is that I'm always willing the show to keep the focus on Bolin or the Airbenders so much so I become annoyed when there's Korra or Asami development. That said the past two episodes spent with a certain someone (spoilers) was awesome to see!

Love this week's episode.

MECHS

Also, loving how Zhu Li is getting a bit more character to her.
Kinda hoping that she's playing Kuvira.

Same. I'm pretty sure she is. If she really gave a eton mess about all the eton mess Varrick gave her she'd have abandoned that ship ages ago.

I was surprised by how young Zhu Li looks, from her brief appearances in the previous books I thought she was much closer to Varrick's age.

Considering her clear affection for Varrick throughout the entire episode she probably is just playing Kuvira, especially now that she's taken another level in badass.

Oh my god Mechs
I hope Zhu Li is playing Kuvira, because all things considered, it makes sense.

it had a pretty good run. it wasn't the last airbender, far from it. it had some pretty bad writing and a pretty dull cast of characters overall, but at its best it could be a fun watch with good action sequences and a few mademechuckle moments.

finale summary:

bolin toppling the building was pretty badass (he can be the best character when he wants to be)

''w-will you do the thing for the rest of our lives?''

whole mech fight was great (last confrontation could have been done better tho)

ending was a bit rushed (we never see bataar try to be forgiven etc) but alright overall

Was a pretty good finale to an enjoyable show, I'm fairly satisfied.
The Varrick and Zhu Li thing was pretty cute, and I was hoping something like that would happen
Also I'm not sure if Korra and Asami are a thing, but if they are, I was expecting that
Anyway, great show, and I hope the writers go on to do more good shows.

Yup, excellent finale. Actually pretty glad we had this type of threat (high level, but Season 1 style) than have the series end on the Series 2 ("end of the world") style finale - that was awesome, but this felt like a harder, more earned finale that really involved everyone with no stupid ass-pull power ups.

I also liked how the end of the battle finished with Korra reflecting upon herself mentally and physically, and that her mental projection she's been haunted with all season was also reflected pretty cleverly with Kuvira - helping her to be able to understand even the toughest and damnedest of foes.

Like with The Last Airbender, the world is safe again for now but they'll always be another adventure or "big bad" around the corner to overcome. I'm just happy we got to see four of Korra's adventures, and got to bear witness the Earth Kingdom very nearly become the new fire-nation of the original series. So it felt quite full circle in that regard, not to mention that it ever highlights the need for the Avatar and "Balance".

...as for Korrasami. That was so signposted earlier on, even as far back as last season. But I'm sure glad the writers came out with it in the end after they protested against the idea to the fans. Even if it was "suggested" more than actually "shown via a kiss", any idiot wouldn't need any more cluing in to their relationship that developed over the course of this Season.

Been seeing quite a few articles and stuff sorta summarising the whole of Korra and, while it wasn't as humorous as TLA, I feel that when you take everything into consideration Korra addressed quite a lot of serious topics and dealt with some heavy stuff. That, and it had good representation of women and poc. The ending was perfect imo and I think it was heavily alluded all throughout this season. Hoping they follow up with some more comics or something.

Also this made me laugh so much

edit omg more

Do you need to have seen The Last Airbender before watching The Legend Of Korra? I was thinking of picking up Korra but if I need to watch Airbender first then I guess I had better do that.

I don't think it's necessary- of course there are plenty of references but if I remember correctly, if there are any that aren't just small in-jokes or references, they're probably straightforward and don't really affect the plot.

Although you should watch the original series because it's good stuff.

Cool, thanks Casp. I'll probably end up watching them both if it's good anyway.

Watch the original series first because it's better.

I did like Korra quite a lot, though. Two really fun series with some very good writing and a great fantasy world. I just thought the "overarching plot told through largely self-contained episodes" structure of the original series worked better than Korra's "a new plot each season" one.

I'd also watch the original first just for chronology, not necessarily because it's better (although actually I thought Korra was better, largely owing to last season and it's implications), but do whatever floats your boat.
