The next episode of Doctor Who airs
Saturday 1 November.
Discuss theories, thoughts, and feelings here. If they're about Doctor Who, that helps.

I decided to try and break into DW at long last with the current series. It didn't go very well. I think I watched the first four episodes and none of them appealed to me particularly. Although maybe this is just a particularly mediocre series?

I blame Clara.
Can we have Frank Skinner back as the full time companion instead?
<Kaeetayel> Go for a team entirely composed of Eeveelutions
<Princess> that's effort
<Princess> I need to buy the stones/go to rocks/make them happy/touch Eevee
<Kaeetayel> The last one doesn't sound too bad

Not a fan of Clara at all but I quite like this relationship with Danny. Mainly because it gives her a great reason to leave the Doctor.

The Lannisters send their regards.

I loved the Eccleston and Tennant Dr Who, but as soon as Matt Smith came along it just went downhill for me, couldn't stand his interpretation of the Doctor and for me the writing just seemed to drop in quality as well. The Capaldi Doctor is slightly better than Smiths but still nowhere near Eccleston/Tennant. Put it this way, if I'm in and it comes on the TV I'd sit there and watch it, if I was doing something else I wouldn't rush to watch Dr Who anymore. There was a time when I didn't want to miss an episode.

I assume that you are referring to the line said by second doctor in the five doctors. Later referenced by the 11th Doctor in Closing time and then again said by David Tennant in Day of the Doctor and then said again recently when I got bored of them saying it. So yes I like Doctor Who

You are absolutely right. Goes all the way back to the Three Doctors in 1973 though.

It really is incredibly strange, yet rather thread related, to see BishBashBosh and Genericenemy talking to each other

Just think of it as the time Jon Culshaw called Tom Baker in his Tom Baker voice.

Well I'm just glad it appears I have someone who likes the Fourth Doctor as much as I do.

The first couple of episodes of this current series were actually quite good. Then it all went downhill…

I hope
Doctor Who can return to its former glory once again.

They weren't. The only episodes of worth this season so far are Listen and Flatline.
Granted I've not seen the two episodes between The Caretaker and Flatline because The Caretaker was so bad it made me stop watching the live broadcasts, but the two between them had stupid names anyway and were probably terrible.

I agree with this wholeheartedly.
I never really liked Clara all that much anyway. I only ever like her in that one episode where she was simply "Souffle Girl". I would have much preferred her to be a one off character.
But so far I like Capaldi and I also like Danny Pink. I want to see more of him. And Frank Skinner of course!
I am functioning within the established parameters.

I'm going to say that Series 8 is dangerously close to knocking Series 5 off its perch as my favourite series. It depends essentially on the finale, but: I'm loving Capaldi as the Doctor, Jenna has really come into her own as Clara and there's been a marked increase in the quality of the writing compared to 7B. Robot of Sherwood is the only real dud thus far.

I think my favourite episode so far has actually been Deep Breath. I thought it was a brilliant introductory episode, Clara got a good telling off, it featured Madame Vestra, Jenny and Strax and to top it all off a dinosaur!

Deep Breath is probably my 3rd favourite this series, behind Listen and Flatline.
I seem to remember when I ran this thread on ONM I had a massive first post with all the details. Someone tell me, was I insane? What an incredibly huge waste of time that was.
