So the nominations are in, personally I'm kinda shocked by the 5 for best picture, while I enjoyed Birdman (which I think should win), The Grand Budapest Hotel and Boyhood allot. I am honestly dumbfounded about the attention that the "Theory of Everything" and "Immitation Game" are receiving, they are both honestly the most mediocre safe Oscar bait movies that I've seen in a while, I would of much rather seen Gone Girl get a nomination over both of these movies. James Marsh being nominated over David Fincher is frankly a bit of a joke, there is nothing spectacular about "Theory of Everything", it's one of the safest movies of the year. Starred Up was also robbed of any nominations at all, although Jack O'Connell deservedly got a rising star nomination. Although all the obvious choices are here, I'm very glad Birdman got tonnes of nominations, but I doubt it will win much since Boyhood is the favorite to win, even though it's a little over hyped.

So most of the things I wanted to be nominated did, but honestly the quality of movies seem to be very underwhelming overall.

Seems a bit early to announce Big Hero 6 as a nominee since it hasn't even been released in UK cinemas yet. Are they not jumping the gun a tad? Has Disney paid them to do it?

I know they don't matter, but I watch them more out of interest more than anything, I don't hold them with any prestige, but I think they are interesting anyway.
