Ghost in the Shell is the greatest anime film ever made.

Asuka > Rei

This is so easy even I can do it.

I need to rewatch GITS, I only saw it once and spent most of it confused and then the ending had me like "wait what, is that it?" (still thought things like the action scenes were pretty good and it's obviously very philosophical even if it mostly went over my head)

Also what's the next thing to watch in that series, Stand Alone Complex? The second movie? Should I be reading the manga?

Ghost in the Shell (2015) is set as a prelude to the original Ghost in the Shell from 1995. It ends where the movie from 1995 begins.
Ghost in the Shell (set in 2029) from 1995 or its 2008 remake Ghost in the Shell 2.0
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (set in 2030)
The Laughing Man, a feature-length OVA summary of S.A.C.
Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG (set in 2032)
Individual Eleven, a feature-length OVA which retells the events of S.A.C. 2nd GIG, altered to focus on both the Individual Eleven investigation and the relationship between Hideo Kuze and Motoko Kusanagi
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (set in 2032)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex − Solid State Society (set in 2034) from 2006 or 2011 in 3D
Ghost in the Shell: Arise OVA series (set in 2027). It's a prequel telling the origin story of Section 9
Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Alternative Architecture is a recompilation for television of Ghost in the Shell: Arise.
Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie is a movie set after Ghost in the Shell: Arise that is a continuation of the plot of the Pyrophoric Cult episode.

The only unclear part is about where S.A.C. 2nd GIG and Innocence go in relation to each other, because they are both set in 2032. 2nd GIG is the second season of S.A.C. and should probably be watched directly after it.

The GitS movies, SAC-series and Arise OVA are all different interpretations of the source material/manga.

Ghost in the Shell/2.0 and Innocence are set in the same universe, and I would recommend to watch them first as they have the strongest story and production values.

The SAC-series has it's own separate universe and is more of a crime series where the movies are more philosophical.

The Arise OVA-series is also completely separate from both the movies and series, but somewhat serve as a spiritual prequel to both.

Started Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo.

6 episodes in, it's quite enjoyable so far, had a good few laughs from it, all the girls are pretty good, theres even a Christmas cake sensei. Shiina is probably my best girl so far and I don't know why.

Regardless it's times like this when I'm glad that 2 cour series are a thing, being 1 quarter through instead of halfway through is a nice feeling.

OK not gonna lie despite the retarded premise from an outward glance I'm actually enjoying Youjo Senki to some degree. By the end of the first episode i was just like ''hey i actually want more of this'' The militarism, magic and war tyrants in the form little girls makes a hotpot for a pretty entertaining watch

The a recap six episodes in is pretty laughable but new studio still finding its bearings i guess

Just watched Koe no Katachi. Absolutely stunning KyoAni did a really good job. Got the blood pumping at just the right points. I would recommend seeing it if there are encore screenings near you and you're interested in it.

Yeah saw it earlier too, when the dude took my ticket he gave me a paper handout saying to give them an email if I wanted them to have more anime in the future so that's a good step.

Yeah great movie I've already done a better summary of it on MAL but it handled its subject matter very well and the story felt so complete (minus a few pointless characters) that you won't even notice that it's adapting a 7 volume manga (which I should definitely try and read at some point)
