Finally saw Rogue One the other night. Absolutely great, as expected, but it reminds me and saddens me that Carrie Fisher has now passed away

Just got back from seeing La La Land. Amazing, fantastic, brilliant film! If you like musicals, go see it. If you like film in general, go see it.

Just.....go see it!

The Lego Batman Movie is absolutely hysterical. So much so, I felt like I was ruining the film for everyone else with my outbursts. If you liked the Lego Movie, this is even better.

I absolutely loved the Lego movie. Going to see Lego Batman movie soon hopefully, and it'll probably be the usual my group of 18 year old friends laughing harder than any of the kids there.
Ever since joining the original ONM I've been a huge Nintendo fan (specifically Zelda) and am looking forward to some great discussions. I was previously known as Lego Master

That seems likely. In fact, I only really heard the adults laughing through most of it. My 8yo nephew missed a lot of the jokes, usually because they relied on a working knowledge of the batman-verse or pop culture references he didn't get, but they had me crying with laughter.

Was alright, few chuckles here and there

Watched Death Proof for the first time last night. Can see what Tarantino was going for, but certainly not one of his best

For me, Death Proof is a very special film, in that it ranks among my list of the worst films ever made.

I hated that film, i hated it more than you could ever know, i couldn't believe i paid to sit down and watch a film (if you can call it that) which involved nothing but a bunch of unlikeable characters talking crap for what seems like an eternity. By the time the first bunch were bumped off by Stuntman Mike, i was like 'thank god for that'. But once the second bunch had gotten to their five minutes of action at the end, i was almost comatose thanks to the seemingly unending tedium.

Yeh I can understand that. Especially considering there's two distinct halves to the film and they don't connect together well. All the style, tropes and emphasis of Grindhouse cinema is in the first half, and then almost completely forgotten in the seconf half.

Deathproof most certainly would be better if it was just left in its original form as part of the Grindhouse double-bill with Robert Rodriguez' Planet Terror

Will have to watch Planet Terror at some point now I know it's on Amazon Prime.

In the meantime though, I recently watched "My Scientology Movie", presented by Louis Theroux. I really enjoyed it, even though I came away from it not really any the wiser on Scientology, but for the most part I enjoyed it because I quite like Theroux' style of presenting and delving deeper. Although, there was one part where I was totally on the side of the quite unstable Marty Rathbun where he rages and insults Theroux due to him being a bit insensitive.

I also read Marty Rathbun's blog post about the film and involvement in it afterwards. It's safe to say he didn't enjoy it.

Finally got to see Lego Batman last night. It was awesome! So many in jokes and references, I'm sure loads were missed the first time round.

Saw John Wick 2 and Lego Batman and both were p.good. Most of the funny bits were in the Batman trailer tho and tbh the Lego Ninjago trailer which played before was funnier if only for L-loyd.

And I can't decide if Keanu Reeves is a good actor or not.

Watched 'David Brent: Life on the Road' as it's now on Prime, and despite having low expectations, I was quite disappointed. There were some funny moments (the bit from the first trailer is great - watch that instead), but it just missed out on the realism and relatable nature which made 'The Office' so great.

Doctor Strange is brilliant, one of my favourite Marvel films. Sure it's an origin story but the only parallels I could draw are to the likes of Inception (maybe?) and Iron Man in terms of Strange's character.

Otherwise it really stands out in the MCU with it's mystical, psychological side - great to see how it ties in to future developments also, alluding to the infinity stones and establishing Strange's role in Thor: Ragnarok.

From a filmmaking persective John Wick 2 is arguably an improvement but idk, i feel like it lacks the punch and grittiness of the first, like everyrhing felt really clean and it wasnt as much of a holy eton mess wtf is going on slap to the face. Incredible action though

Watched The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Collateral, Men in Black 3 in the last week. I enjoyed all of them but the ending to Collateral was a bit eton mess. I was also very pleasantly surprised by how well they did with MIB3, doesn't feel tacked on or like a cash grab.

Off to see Logan this evening after Lego Batman last week. That's two weeks running I'll have been to the flicks, makes a nice change from the three months without.

It was great too, I really enjoyed it. Seeing Logan turning almost human as he obviously wants his 'suffering' to end after years of being like he is while also realising what he was and the suffering he's caused was bad enough but actually seeing Xavier losing his mind was really powerful stuff. Mucho credit to Patrick Stewart for his portrayal of that. Also heartbreaking watching Xavier being killed too.
