I really hope jackman and stewart get nods for best actor and best supporting actor at the oscars, they deserve it for the strength of their portrayals tbh

Saw Logan last night and yeah, it's pretty great. Jackman and Stewart of course were on point all the way but have to say Dafne Keen did a fantastic job as Laura. Really managed to get a good mix of incredibly visceral action and character story into it so unsurprising that it's so long but well worth it. Incredibly different to other superhero films and probably one of my favourite in the genre now and honestly stands out as just a great movie regardless of genre.

Saw it last night as well, probably my favourite x-men movie for all the reasons stated above, feels very human and is as brutal as I've always wanted a wolverine movie to be
Stellar performances and writing, it was a good send off for the character after the past 17 years

Jumping on the Logan trailer, was a fantastic film. Great action, acting, and story. I just wish I'd rewatched the originals before seeing it to give me more connection to the characters.

I do find it funny though how much of a mess the X-Men timeline is though. Days of Future past was all about preventing a future where most mutants were gone, only to replace it with another future where most mutants are gone. Not that it particularly matters if we get a good film out of it.

Actually not sure if they said which timeline Logan takes place in. It's called the Logan trilogy and Mangold did direct The Wolverine so I'm inclined to believe it's more based in the first timeline rather than the altered DoFP timeline where everything worked out. If it's been stated which timeline it slots into I'd be interested to hear but I feel there's more evidence towards it being the first timeline.
Points like:
- Charles talks about Logan being a cage fighter and the Statue of Liberty incident (X-men)
- Logan has the adamantium bullet Striker shoots him with (X-men:Origins)
- Also tone and minor parts to do with the new future shown in DoFP but that's not concrete stuff, chief thing is that the above two points aren't a part of the canon for the new future. Could have happened but eh.
There's other minor bits too but who knows how much credit to give people for accounting for timelines.

That's true actually, didn't think of that possibility.

Also he has a samurai sword on his wall (The Wolverine) (EDIT: oh no wait that's the one he got from that Japanese soldier in WWII so I guess the rest of The Wolverine doesn't necessarily have to have happened but it still forms part of this bizarre Logan trilogy so there's no harm in it)

In my...I guess it would be my headcanon, Logan probably takes place in a timeline where First Class, Origins, X1, X2, X3 and The Wolverine all happened but DoFP did not, except a few things from it did happen just not the main disaster part. I know this also leads to problems like them teasing X-23 in the other timeline which might lead some to believe that this is instead the Logan from X-Men Apocolypse but I still think that for one that was just a teaser but also I'm pretty sure the X project thing can happen in more than one timeline

Either way this is just a movie about Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart playing these characters they've been playing for a long time now and giving them a final send off, saw it last night, the cinema was packed and it was a great movie.

The timeline is a gooseberry fool disaster so there is literally no point trying to work it out tbh

officially Logan takes place in its own timeline, with some events from the other timrlines hsving occurred eg statue of liberty. So yeah

Watched Pokemon: The First Movie last night (got the 3 movie limited edition blu ray a few months back), haven't seen it for at least 15 years.

It's a lot more naff than i remembered it to be, some of that dialogue was just dreadful, and Team Rocket occupied all the best bits.

Gonna see the second one this evening, i do recall it being far superior.

ok but the start bit where mewtwo gets created is pretty great considering its pokemon and it gets a bit more existential than it needs to for a kids film

Watched the second movie, it was just as good as i remember, and ten times better than the first.

Can't remember very much about the third one, but will reacquaint myself with it in due course.

Finally got to see Doctor Strange. I feel like it was one of the stronger MCU films, I appreciate it taking its time with Strange and doing things differently with it. The lack of a major fight scene for the resolution is great and I'm glad he's not the Sorcerer Supreme yet without actually doing the thing.

Just watched Koe no Katachi. Absolutely stunning KyoAni did a really good job. Got the blood pumping at just the right points. I would recommend seeing it if there are encore screenings near you and you're interested in it.

Decided to revisit my childhood by digging out my DVD for the original Spongebob Movie. Not gonna lie, I enjoyed it just as much as I did 10 years ago.

tbh that film is pretty lit, and spongebob from that era still holds up today imo

the power rangers movie is very average and the best bit is when rita is slapped into space

the cgi is ok but the costume, zord and monster design are all very strange

the music is very licensed

i would probably not recommend this film but if you do want to see it, see it in the cinema because i imagine a bluray/dvd viewing will not be as favourable

also if jimbob comes in here and tells you to watch it probably ignore him

Yeah, I'd seen the Power Rangers film as well. I think it really depends on how much a fan of the series you are.
For me, I enjoyed the character interactions, and quite liked it, but I've always maintained that Disney handled the series better, and some of the Saban design is evident here.
