The McLaren-Renault deal has been agreed...

https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/13176 ... or-renault
Don't quite know how I feel about this really, suppose Honda could well be in line to sue McLaren depending on the terms of their contract. McLaren will probably have no chance of getting a Honda power unit in the future either, regardless of how much McLaren are willing to pay (if the Honda ever becomes the class of he field that is). I'd find it pretty funny if the Honda power unit becomes great in 2019 and powers Red Bull to a 5th WDC and WCC.

Suppose McLaren will have to find an extra 35 million to pay Alonso as well.

I think Alonso would have walked had Honda been retained, it is after all, still a GP2 engine.

Anyone else gotten to Russia in their career yet? Either I'm woeful at the track or the AI has had a sudden upturn in pace, qualified 17th and starting last due to a gearbox penalty (which will probably be the first of many).

My next race on career is Singapore, the AI cars seem to fluctuate wildly in each event, at some tracks i am woefully slow (especially Monaco), while at others (Canada, Austria, Spa) i'm right up there fighting for podiums, it's quite bizarre!

I recovered to finish 7th and in the end my race pace wasn't too far from the AI but I was nowhere in practice (even the programs the team want you to complete) and qualy, just seems odd. Anyway Spain next, lets hope for a good race.

I've also stared a career at McLaren (now the 1.6 patch has fixed the power unit updates for them), however I've put it on easy, more as an exercise just to see how the AI develop over the course of a few seasons. Even if I don't upgrade my car I shouldn't have an issue keeping up with them, won Aus by 50 seconds over 25% distance in the rain earlier.

I don't have the 1.6 patch yet as i've not played it for a couple of days, i do hope it will eliminate that godawful multiplayer bug, but i won't be holding my breath.

So more rumours saying Renault are ditching Red Bull after 2018, meaning it'll be Red Bull Racing Honda in 2019. At least that means Honda will get more mileage in 2019 due to powering two teams.....

Does this mean their lead driver will become Daniel Ricciardon't when he's sat at the side of the circuit in a deck chair after breaking down like Fernando?

Never mind Ricciardo, poor Verstappen! Broken down so many times with a Renault power unit what will it be like with a Honda? Unless they have a sudden upturn in form in the off season.

I suspect Max will end up winning the Johnny Herbert award for being the first to talk to the TV pit lane reporters after walking back to the pits.

That would be quite something indeed.

Haven't been on F1 2017 much since spinning out of first practise in China, I'll go back to do more of it another time but with the new Metroid game having just come out it's likely going to be my priority. May play F1 2017 for the Signapore Event though.

I've not been on F1 much recently either, still at Spain in my career. Still just going for quality control and efficiency updates at the moment, hopefully all of the teams behind me won't go crazy and overtake me in the car performance ratings.

I bet Vettel's feeling a bit of a pillock this evening.

Don't think I've ever felt so angry watching an F1 race.

Potential win and championship thrown away by Vettel, unless Mercedes have reliability issues I think Hamilton has this years wrapped up.

No idea what the Ferraris were playing at, I'm guessing they've both said they couldn't see the other Ferrari (which is probably true) but considering the conditions they should have just gone for worst case scenario and gone straight rather than taking risks in tricky conditions.

Then I've had people at work (watched it on catch-up) more or less telling me to enjoy the start (they know I'm a Vettel/Ferrari fan) and that Hamilton is in the lead at some point. Just pure annoying really.

Oh well at least Hulkenberg got himself a record, most Grand Prix entered without a podium although that wad on the cards early in the race as well!

Alonso was an innocent victim of the chaos too, made a good start but wiped out at turn 1, amazed he was able to keep going for as long as he did when you consider the amount of damage he was carrying.

Also annoying! Just don't know why they decided to take such a huge risk in unknown conditions. Think it's going to bug me for ages

Had another go at F1 2017 Online today, and i actually managed to finish some races! It seems the bug is currently absent, long may that continue.

My last race was great fun, it was a Baku destruction derby (also, check out the Haas at the end of the clip)...

Still not even tried online yet, should maybe change that at some point.

Anyone else watch the Guy Martin Speed F1 Special yesterday? Just caught up with it now and it was great, did a fantastic job being chucked in a month before the Belgian GP and ended up doing all the pit stops for the drivers. We'll worth a watch if you have a spare hour (ish).

The first lap nutcases were out in force today (after the first incident at Suzuka, i was actually limping back to the pits)...

Still have yet to win a race, i've started 36 races, finished in the top 50% on 22 occasions, and had 4 podiums, but i've not been able to stay out front when it mattered. That said though, yesterday, the online sessions seemed to get stuck on an evening setting which reduced visibility, and that led to me driving like a complete muppet as my races were just littered with my own crashes and errors.
