I suspect a new contract will be thrashed out with Liberty, as the current one dates back to Bernie and CVC who did little except make bigger and bigger monetary demands for hosting races.

Obviously I want the Grand Prix to stay at Silverstone but I wouldn't be surprised if another track picked it up and got their track to the required F1 safety standards (please Brands Hatch! ;)) instead.

I'm saying this as while Liberty Media seem more open with the sport allowing Silverstone to re-negotiate a better deal would potentially mean all the other tracks can activate their get out clause to get a better deal for the next few years. The deal Silverstone is on is pretty stupid anyway (although it may be standard in the industry), meaning the cost raises by a % each consecutive year, can't remember the figure but they'll be paying a lot more in their final year than they were. Should have gotten a slightly higher price but not a % increase year on year.

One thing that would be a shame is if no other track took the British GP over, hopefully there'll still be one in 2020.

Not exactly surprising... Mercedes may have been an option but I doubt many thought the Ferrari rumours were true, looks like McLaren will be sticking with Honda for the time being then. Maybe they could switch in 2021 if Honda still haven't got themselves sorted out and Cosworth actually produce a decent power unit to go with the supposed new engine reg's coming into force, potentially in 2021.

Not a hugely exciting race today but there was a nice bit of tension throughout, that marks 4 weeks now till the next race :(

I think the biggest surprise was seeing Alonso actually finish the race.

Think most people thought this would be their strongest race for a while. They were right! Got fastest lap as well! Was a right laugh at the end with him on his deck chair beneath the podium

Indeed! Also the exchange after the race between Hulkenberg and Magnussen was good as well, without spoiling it (it really does need to be watched in my opinion) K-Mag is not a happy chap.

So Hamilton has equated Schumacher's pole record, unless something goes terribly wrong for him in the remaining qualifying sessions in 2017 he'll be top pole sitter by the end of the year.

Also was fantastic to see just how quick these cars are around Spa, about 4 seconds quicker than pole from last year! Hamilton took Pouhon in 8th gear with what sounded like a small lift (maybe a slight dab on the brakes) on the way in. The lap record will surely be beaten in the race at some point as well, unless it's chucking it down throughout.

That's a shame, I thought it was a decent race!

You'll have to let me know how F1 2017 is, not planning on getting it anytime soon (probably hint it as a Christmas present, reckon it'll have dropped in price by then) as I'm much more interested in Gran Turismo Sport at the moment to go alongside my slowly growing Switch collection (will have definitely grown by Christmas!), don't really have the time for two racing games currently and while F1 2017 does look good it doesn't look masses better than 16, which I lost enthusiasm for after roughly 1.5 seasons of career mode.

As long as i can make it to the end of a race without the dreaded 'migrating host' bug, then i'll be grateful.

Finally jumped onto the modern F1 game train after finally having the means to play one of these games. I started F1 2017 on Friday and plan to play it a bit more tomorrow (or this evening depending on how things go). Haven't started career mode yet and I've yet to decide whether I will commit to a PS+ susbscription especially considering I also will likely pay for Nintendo's paid service when that comes around. But it would be good to race you guys online.

On another note, it was a good race today. It's a shame that a side effect of it will likely be that Force India won't be allowed to race each other anymore (also why is it always Spa where teammate issues arise?)

If you guys are still racing online when I get it around Christmas (hopefully anyway) I'd be up for some online racing, I don't normally venture online too much as a lot of the time you get wiped out at T1 :( or that was the case when I used to play online anyway which was a while ago, barely touched online on the 2016 game.

I do have one question though, I have a voucher code for the MP4/4 but I cannot see anywhere in game to enter it and download the car. Where do I enter this code?

If it's the same as the helmet designs in 2016 (to boost career mode progression) then you'll enter it as a code in the PSN store.

Yeah, the code is redeemed via the PS Store.

Only had time to do a quick quali session in career and one online race so far. I was very slow (though i always am at Albert Park for some reason, even in previous games, it's a track i've never gotten to grips with) in the quali, and i was running 5th in the online race until my old friend the host migration bug returned, bugger.

Been comparing the driver select screens for certain drivers on F1 games that I own. Kimi Raikkonnen always looks so happy in Driver Select screens in F1 games...

Also, Alonso's appearance has changed quite a bit across these three games...

One of the more popular F1 YouTube people seem to think the AI are a little op in qualy, watching it the game looks good though, career mode looks fantastic with how in depth the R&D seems to go, definitely be trying to move McLaren up the grid over a couple of seasons. Seems like there's definitely a few areas to sort stuff out, parts don't sound to scale well to shorter races and the online sounds like it has some issues, again

You started a career yet Ape? If so which team have you opted for? Who did you opt for D.J? Similar to last year in going straight for a top car?

Haven't started a career yet. Want to get somewhat competent at the game before committing to a career mode and I haven't yet decided what kind of career mode I'm going to go for yet, although I'm leaning towards McLaren or Renault as they are my two favourite teams in the game. Or Red Bull since my driving style so far has been very Max Verstappen-ish...

EDIT: Probably should mention I tried a career mode on both F1 2003 and F1 2006 but stopped on both after neither were going as well as I wanted (or it might just be because of the amount of time; the 2006 one was better but I guess I didn't have the patience to get through the whole season).

You mean you keep breaking down, right?

Renault would be my second choice, probably end up driving both in game to see which I prefer. Career is something you definitely have to stick at to get the most out of it though.
