Yeah, in some way's this is going to be like late 90s early 200s F1. Not much overtaking but multiple teams in contention and the potential for a Mika Hakkinnen vs. Michael Schumacher type shootout only with a modern version between Hamilton and Vettel.

Also, seeing as we were missing a site like this last time, here's a new one for the new season.

Haha bless him, sure there's a similar site about if McLaren has broken down as well.

Just thought some people may want to take part in this,

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/moto ... f1-886370/

Global F1 fan survey, they hosted another one in 2015 so you may have already filled a similar survey in back in 2015.

Didn't realise there was a "have they won yet" one as well, both make for painful reading :(

Guess a positive is the engine didn't let them down in Australia but it didn't exactly look quick, reckon they'll get overtaken quite a lot on China's back straight (if they qualify high enough). Really hope they can get the engine sorted soon as we need McLaren with Alonso fighting for podiums.

Seen an interesting fact going round lately. The first round of the Indycar, World Rally Championship, Formula E and Formula 1 seasons this year have all been won by someone who's first name is either Sebastian or Sebastien.

Indycar: Sébastien Bourdais (remember him?)
World Rally Championship: Sebastian Ogier
Formula E: Sebastien Buemi
Formula 1: Sebastian Vettel

Unfortunately there are no Sebastians/Sebastiens in MotoGP, , World Superbike Championship, the British Touring Car Championship, the World Touring Car championship or NASCAR, so no chance of a clean sweep across all major motoracing series.

Bourdais had a lot of bad luck during his time in F1, he qualified 4th at Monza in 2008 but stalled on the grid and was relegated to the back.

They've also all been associated with Red Bull at some point of their career as well.

Looks like F1 could be heading back to Istanbul Park.

Just saw that on my Twitter feed this morning as well. It's one of the few tracks I've actually missed since they last raced there in 2011, great track altogether but it'll be amazing to see these new cars fly round turn 8.

After turn 8 though, they should turn that chicane into a fast kink as then the cars will have several high speed rollercoaster corners before the heavy braking zone into the final complex.

That'd take away another potential overtaking point though, not that the Turkey track is short of overtaking points mind but if a driver can cling to the rear of the leading car through turn 8 they deserve a shot at overtaking into the next corner, they can then try out drag each other down the long straight.

Huge edit!

Jenson back in the car for Monaco then?

So Alonso is going to pursue a chance of getting another jewel in the racing triple crown. Hopefully it goes better than the current McLaren

At least the engine will be more competitive.

Can see Indycar turning into a full time F1 exit if it goes well for Alonso.

And yes, I was thinking the same thing, looks like Jenson might be back for a one-off race after all. Seemingly, no-one really retires from this sport unless it's in shock circumstances like Rosberg.

And you never know, we might see Rosberg make a comeback one day.

EDIT: Lol.

Perhaps, but just imagine the speeds you'd reach through those kinks mixed with the elevation changes, it would be absolutely mighty.

Yeah it certainly would be good to watch.

Anyway that conversation above between Renault and Mercedes shows they have the best couple of Twitter people in F1, great banter between them!

I don't see Alonso permanently moving to Indy car either, he seems pretty adamant about the triple crown of Monaco, Indy 500 and Le Mans 24 hours. I suppose there is a very slight chance he could race in Le Mans this year (as it falls between Canada and Baku) but I imagine 2018 is more likely given Le Mans is a couple of months away, falls on my weekend off as well so I'm sorely tempted to try and watch the full race.

Surprised no one posted on this thread after the Chinese Grand Prix itself. Don't know about you but that was a much better race than Australia, so many good close battles and great overtaking, especially with Verstappen and Vettel.

Hopefully more races this season are like that.

The race was really good like you said Ape, not too many overtakes but the drivers had to actually work hard for them. Should be a good season going forwards I think.

Well the next couple of races are live on Channel 4 so if you're around you'll be able to watch those. I would have missed the F1 this weekend but with it being Easter I'm not working in Sunday so will be able to sit down in the afternoon and watch the race. Will be missing Russia though.

Anyway, Jenson Button confirmed to be racing in Monaco in place of Alonso. Bahrain Grand Prix practise on right now.

The McLaren of Vandoorne has just stopped on track as well, following on from the Ferrari of Raikkonen earlier in the session.

My problem is that some sundays i'm not at home, and i don't have one of those TV recorder boxes which is an absolute pain.

Thankfully i will get to see Bahrain and Russia, but i probably won't get to see Spain.

Yes Vettel, great job by Vettel and Ferrari to win their 2nd race of the season. Shame about Bottas being slight off the pace, apparently because of his tyre pressures being off. No idea what's happening with Raikkonen, his pace seems so far off Vettel but then he smashes in the fastest lap at the end of the race. I know he hasn't had the best strategies in the races so far but he's been a fair chunk off Vettel in each race.
