Re: Customising the Forum
The Super Pumpkin seems awful jolly.
Look forward to the christmas themes which will be the Pumpkins recoloured white, wearing a hat and having a carrot shoved in them.

Re: Customising the Forum - New Style Approaching!
A new week, a new style. Super Blue is now available for use - just switch over in board preferences in the UCP as you would for any other. Check it out! This should complete the trio of styles available on SONM, so hopefully there is something here for everyone.
Of course the styles might still be updated and changed when needed - most notably the width of the avatar/profile area still needs to be made to display better on large screens.

And I was just getting used to the red...you've torn me now!
Which is a good thing I guess.

How about a Super Black/Grey instead of Blue/White? Nice darker theme.

The new ones are nice but I'll stick to Classic for now I think.

Re: Customising the Forum - New Style Approaching!
I'm too institutionalised on the classic look. I'm scared to try the new ones.
I am functioning within the established parameters.

I like how the forum doesn't auto-fill itself to fit the width of the screen -- good in the age of 16:9 displays, since reading left to right along a very wide column is v e r y s l o w.

Really like the Super ONM theme, although the classic theme is good too. Have yet to check out the third.

Re: Customising the Forum - New Style Approaching!
Is there any chance that this forum gets some more modern features in the compose window?
Right now it feels like I'm in 2005. I don't get the right code for making text appear as a hyperlink when I click "URL", for example.
I'm going to be frank and honest about this next bit: the widescreen view in "Super ONM" needs to be fixed.
We tend to read text better in focused columns (see: Newspapers, books, magazines). Having every line of text stretch to fit a very wide display is counter-productive. Most web pages see content fit 768 pixels wide for a reason.

Re: Customising the Forum - New Style Approaching!
The default ONM Classic theme is width limited precisely for this reason. Widescreen had been requested by a lot of people, so it was made available. If you don't want it just keep using the classic theme?fronkhead wrote:Is there any chance that this forum gets some more modern features in the compose window?

I don't quite understand what you mean by more modern features in the compose window either I'm afraid. url will give you the basic tags required - sure you have to type "=<url>" into it, but I'm not sure what behaviour you would prefer. That's generally the way bbcode is set up to work in phpbb.

Didn't even see the blue theme, was using the red one since I wasn't a fan of classic
. Much nicer than the bright red in my eyes lol.
Any chance of a quick reply box being added?

Fair enough, makes sense that people get a choice and I didn't realise it was requested.OrangeRakoon wrote:The default ONM Classic theme is width limited precisely for this reason. As for modern features, on other forums that use phpbb, you don't have to faff about with code, for example when clicking "URL" you get two boxes, one for the link and the other for the link's "description" (i.e. the text that shows the link), and this is the same for nearly everything else related to formatting.
It'd be hard to explain further without asking you to sign up to said forums though.

Re: Customising the Forum - New Style Approaching!
I'm not sure if it would be considered, but perhaps the forum's artists can create and submit custom backgrounds to be used for an alternative version of an existing layout (So, I could make a background for a version of 'ONM Classic' for example). Then, users can vote on which ones are used for the forum. Just a thought.
Anyway, I'm really feeling the 'Super Blue' theme. I'll use that from now on.
