Re: Robot Wars
Both TR2 and Dantomkia seem to be taking inspiration from Chaos 2. The difference between the two in the end was that Dantomkia were too arrogant and believed they were going to win before the battle actually started while TR2 were a bit more grounded, and that seemed to be the difference in the end. Both great robots though.

Re: Robot Wars
Dantomkia beat Chaos 2 a while back, which was interesting. But yeah, TR2 deserved it, beat them twice after all. The bigger scoopers on flippers seem to perform better generally.

Re: Robot Wars
This episode was all about TR2, Dantomkia and Big Nipper. TR2 deserved winners, I would have preferred to see Big Nipper in the final match just so it wasn't a flipper vs flipper scenario, but hey ho, it was stil a good final.

Apollo is easily one of the most exciting robots to be shown so far, flipping three house robots, unbelievable.

Re: Robot Wars
3 of the 4 robots in the final being flippers, shows how inconsistent other weapons like spinners are. Also didn't realise there'd be a wildcard of heat finalists until I looked it up.

Re: Robot Wars
I'm hoping we don't get another flipper in the final from next week, but Apollo was still pretty incredible last night. Just hoping that they get the chance to go for the clean-sweep against Sir Killalot in the final.

Re: Robot Wars
spinners are only good when you do them right
if you make a robot that smacks its disc on the floor every time it gets flipped you've gooseberry fool up

Re: Robot Wars
I think the judges made some poor decisions in that episode.
Beast were not immobile at any point, as they still had one wheel going at all times; meaning they weren't immobilised.
Meanwhile, I'm struggling to call the Ironside 3 vs Pulsar match. Yes, Ironside 3 were immobile for over 10 seconds, but they were being beset by Pulsar that entire time, preventing them from using their self-righter. After being aided by Sir Killalot, they were able to resume fighting (other robots in past fights have been aided when stuck without being deemed 'immobilised'). Ironside 3 then went on to push both Pulsar and themselves into the pit.
Even if I accept that Pulsar beat Ironside 3, the final should have been Ironside 3 vs Pulsar again, as Gabriel definitely should have taken only 2 points in their aforementioned fight against Beast, becasue it wasn't a knockout. This would have placed both Gabriel and Ironside 3 on 5 points each, with Ironside 3 going through based on their head-to-head with Gabriel.
TL;DR: The final should have been Ironside 3 vs Gabriel, or Ironside 3 vs Pulsar.

Re: Robot Wars
Gabriel is pretty clever but also pretty eton mess, it needed a better weapon to go with its inherent invincibilty
Pulsar needs to sort out its drive but then it'll actually be quite good

Re: Robot Wars
Worst episode of the season by far imo.
Too many judge's decision (some of which were pretty poor) and too many boring robots.

Re: Robot Wars
The Pulsar comeback made for a nice story, but yeah, quite a few dubious decisions were made. Gabriel to win the most boring robot award, can they actually do any damage with their weapons? It seems pretty weak to me.

BIRMINGHAM STRONK
great final, Carbide vs Apollo was the best final possible so i didn't really mind who won
can't wait for next series and the inevitable return of Sgt Bash (and hopefully Chaos 2 maybe?)

Hypnodisc was the best.
Also I want Diotoir to come back, just so I can see him catch fire again.

Re: Robot Wars
Great final between what were clearly the best two robots in the entire series. After the first fight between them I was wondering if it would be another one sided fight but both robots had their fair share of action, I do agree though that Apollo deserved to win that one.
On a side note, Team Carbide posted this picture on Twitter of both robots fighting each other in early stages way back in 2001:
